Start at RB or ride the bench at WR.
Which is more appealing

The best athletes play QB or RB in youth sports
Where I went to high school built the teams like this:
Defense was basically all the best players.
A couple studs at RB
QB
WRs/TE
Big dudes on the O line

With all due respect, I think you lawyers sometimes get caught up in everything being 100% about money

OP makes a solid point. Guys like LF and Derrick Henry make no sense financially/Career wise. Linebacker/Defensive end hybrid would have been optimal

when you're doin something literally insane like playing major football, money should be very important
you're literally taking years off your life the longer you play football

Admittedly, when I read the OP, I thought you were talking about younger children.. I guess in high school it makes a little sense to start thinking about things like that, but I still think a lot of people honestly just care about winning

Played both, liked running back more but I got too fat and too white for it on varsity

I bet Joe McKnight could've been a good DB.

I still think this sort of thing is weeded out by varsity high school football 99% of the time. You have found what best position suits you, if that's RB then that's RB. Yes there NFL careers are short but most teams have 3-4 and a lot of them come from out of no where schools. It's one of the more easier positions to get your shot at I feel.

With everyone on this board complaining about how boring football has gotten, can you imagine if we started playing the most athletic skill kids at every other position and the least athletic at RB?
Let's talk about how boring that would be

Gimme the ball, gimme the ball! RB is the rudimentary offensive position in football.

Cant throw well.
Cant catch.
Has terrible hand eye coordination.

Those optimal decisions don't feel so great when your high school can't score and you're chasing people around at LB.

I doubt parents have much to do with it, but most coaches (and parents) aren't thinking about pro development when their kids are in 6th grade.

I don't really care if they go broke in 4 years or 8 slow.
