Dumb thread is really dumb. No matter how you slice it, LSU has a new head coach and new offense coordinator. Whether CEO was already in the program or served as interim is irrelevant.

Promote a new guy to HC and OC in ANY program and there will be "rebuilding"

he
was
hired
to
avoid
a
rebuild

the entire point in hiring him was to avoid the growing pains

are you saying that he lied or that he is too stupid to understand what status LSU was at when he made that pitch?

those are your 2 choices

Wasn't Orgeron hired to keep the talent in hand?

Alleva and the administration felt that LSU was still close to contending and simply needed a new face leading the way. That is far from many of the concepts of rebuilding. That was in all likelihood true. The problem was that someone like O was considered.

"I know I inherited a top 15 team and another stellar recruiting class, but do you really expect this team to be great with a potential All American running back and senior QB? This is why they hired me, and not a casual fan, to be the head coach of this team."

How did Crowton and Stud do in their first years as OC, respectively?

And I was told that Miles cruised on Saban's coat tails for 3 years. How is it now impossible for a new coach to come in and at least maintain the status quo?

For 5 fricking years all we've heard is that Miles was a buffoon and that any idiot could do what he has done and the only thing stopping LSU from competing for championships was him.

Well, we're waiting...

That why Saban has been able to go through coordinators left and right but still keep that machine running?

I can give two examples, Les was hired, no rebuild necessary. Jimbo was promoted, no rebuild necessary.

That's what happens when you have the recruiting base teams like FSU and LSU has.

Plus anyone can win 10 games at LSU was the narrative for so long.

Oh and forgot Ohio State. Went 6-7, hired new coach, went undefeated. Again, programs like that shouldn't rebuild. They get too much talent.

Promoting from within is done so there is a seamless transition, and that you can keep what's good and tweak the bad.

Now we hear we have discipline issues, recruiting holes, and we need to rebuild.

It's a bait and switch. O was hired for stability not to run off a dozen or so players and to suspend another dozen. He was supposed to revamp the O not start all over.

Bobby Bowden 7-6 2009
Jimbo Fisher 10-4 2010 (won division)

Gene Chizik 3-9 2012
Gus Malzahn 12-2 2013 (won SEC, played for national championship)

Steve Sarkisian (3-2 fired)/Clay Helton (5-4 interim) 2015
Clay Helton 10-3 2016 (won the Rose Bowl)

Mark Heflich 4-8 2016
Willie Taggart 3-0 so far beating Nebraska (bad, but better than BYU) and a group of 5 favorite Wyoming in 2017. Averaging over 600 yards of offense and 56 points per game. In all his games he has been up by at least 3 TDs at half time and scoring 42 points before halftime in each game.

Oklahoma lost Stoops right before the season started. Oklahoma is 3-0 including a beatdown of Urban Meyer.
