many are not saying that
hell i haven't even really posted in the preseason or after the loss but i was scanning the rant this morning and saw excuses over and over again. that's why i made this thread
once we accept this is a rebuild, then we have to ask if O was too stupid to know better or if he lied about it

Paul Chryst took over now three seasons ago. Where was his rebuild?
2015 - 10/3
2016 - 9/3
2017 - ?
Would 3 losses be acceptable for LSU?

I know they are not a bad team. Nobody thinks they are a bad team.
But they are not a great team and will probably finish around 9-3.
LSU should not be getting blown out by barely top 25 teams.

the odds he has that level of coaching talent WITH the personnel we have? essentially 0
I was at least hoping that with the money we have to offer coordinators that there was always a decent chance to land quality guys with the whole thing simply coming down to the ability to evaluate coaching talent. There is of course all sorts of reasons to question said ability because it must be noted that Aranda was a Miles hire that O was simply able to keep around. Canada and the position coaches should be the examples to assess O's ability to evaluating coaching talent.

It means the hire was deficient. We don't need to run from what O is and what he's done. We need to discuss it openly.
the O/fat Goebbels propaganda machine last year was clearly fan-centric
i suppose in an ironic twist of fate, it truly is our fault for not complaining about Grimes enough
had we done that enough, they would have fired him, too, for the positive fan reception

You should at least get his record right. 10-3, 11-3. No sign of a rebuild for Chryst yet. New HC and OC. Should have been 8 wins somewhere in there.

How did Crowton and Stud do in their first years as OC, respectively?
And I was told that Miles cruised on Saban's coat tails for 3 years. How is it now impossible for a new coach to come in and at least maintain the status quo?
For 5 fricking years all we've heard is that Miles was a buffoon and that any idiot could do what he has done and the only thing stopping LSU from competing for championships was him.
Well, we're waiting...

BUT BUT BUT PFF! NUMBER 1! We return, what 4/5ths of PFF's top line (LOL) and now we don't have the depth to compete there.
Which is it ranters? Was our OL good last year or not? Either answer is a damning indictment.

for being such a lowly program who doesn't recruit elite guys, they do have a history of producing OL/DL talent
The recruiting has always been better under Mullen than it has been in most years.

O having no real ethos or philosophy is going to doom this team. like i posted saturday night, this is likely the apext of coaching talent and on-field talent that O will have at LSU. the odds that O ever has coordinators of the level of Aranda/Canada is very low. the odds he has that level of coaching talent WITH the personnel we have? essentially 0
Ed O's plan is to hire the best coordinators in the country....great plan. Only problem is if they are indeed the very best coordinators in the country they will be moving on to bigger things within a few short years. When that happens guess what? New philosophy change in either Offense or Defense and maybe both at the same time= more "rebuilding" or "time needed"

Apologies, I am not an avid Wisconsin fan like you. All bullshite aside, for LSU with a new coach/OC would 3 years of 3 losses per season be considered acceptable in the SECW? Answer that question please.

That why Saban has been able to go through coordinators left and right but still keep that machine running?

9-3 in year 3, with no other records better than that? We fired the last coach to do better than that.

Your making the argument that because 3 losses a year wouldn't be acceptable, it's okay that we hired a guy that's going to give us 5 or 6 per year?

The expectations from many posting in this thread is 8 or 9 wins. Paul's results in both of his full seasons exceed that paltry sum. Also, he's at Wisconsin. He's like Barry Alvarez reincarnate with those results.

You know damn well orgeron will have his marketing hype team. Start spinning this disaster so nothing sticks to him.
Doesn't matter tho because anyone with a working brain could see what an unthinkable atrocious hire this was. I still. Can't believe they hired him. It defies explanation.

This team wouldn't have looked much better had Miles not been fired. O is terrible, but so was Miles. Stop defending him. He put the holes in the boat. Ed O is just going to sit his fat arse in it and help it sink.

Here's O's spin problem. He hired the so-called best coordinators in the country. He won't be able to pin this on Canada. Right now, he's engaging in throwing the players under the bus. That's the last stop in excuse-ville.

While true, and while agreeing that the whole premise that we will always be able to hire top flight coordinators is pie in the sky, the condition of our o-line was going to be an issue for ANY coach this year. That falls back on the previous staff for years of defunct OL recruitment and management. Similar can be said for our current WR situation. We are set up with good freshman QB's so time will tell with that position.
I do think there's a lot of overreaction going on in pinning this loss entirely on O and using it as an extrapolation on his ability to manage a winning program going forward.

Perhaps more damning, he's arguing that Paul Chryst's hire was anything other than a smashing success for the Badgers.
