I wanted to make a gaming rig for older consoles (nes, snes, etc.) and looking for one, but can't seem to find one. Is just buying online my best bet? I found some on amazon, but wasn't sure if I could find it cheaper locally.
TIA!
TIA!

The price of the Pi is pretty consistent all over the internet. I don't think you can get it cheaper locally. There is an online retailer that puts it on sale sometimes. I've seen it as low as $28. Currently $32. LINK I have never purchased anything from them, so I can't vouch for them.

Thanks! I'm completely new to this stuff, but I kinda figured that would be the case.
I found a bundle on amazon that I'll probably buy that comes with power cord, heat sinks, case, etc.

This is your best option. You can usually find a good deal with a few extras. I got an hdmi among a couple other things. Also, look into getting a power button. It's inline with the power supply, but has a button to turn on and off.

I'm not sure what other needs you may have but another interesting angle to consider is buying a Nvidia Shield TV box, loading up all your emulators of choice and also using it to control your media viewing.
(PSVue, IPTV, Kodi, Terrarium, Haystack, VLC, Youtube, Netflix, Amazon prime movies, Sling etc etc)
I have three of them and they are worth every cent. The media remote and game controller are both really really nice.
Best part is if you get a wireless keyboard and mouse you can use them for full screen web browsing.
On non football game nights I like to use voice control for playing Pandora in the background while reading from the Nook/Kindle app or even just jamming some 80's metal on the weekend through the stereo while I'm doing tasks I set for myself around the house.

If you add in a good wireless controller, big SD card, cables; you are looking closer to $100. $135 if you get a second nice Bluetooth controller. Don’t skimp on the controller, the shite ones aren’t worth the hassle you get with crappy D pad movement.
