Concussions will be mentioned in court

Wright fell off the college football radar, but remained a topic of speculation of where he would surface. On Wednesday, Wright landed among the ranks of inmates at the Roane County Jail.
Ouch

Going strictly off of the documentary series. I think that Buddy pushed him too hard when he was clearly hurt.
Maybe I'm misremembering, but that's not how I saw it. Buddy kept trying to take him out. He told him he wasn't ready and the college coaches would think he wasn't as good as he really was if he kept playing injured.

no one is born with the ability to make the right choice. We make choices based off what we are taught and life experiences. If you accept that, and I don't see how you couldn't, then you have to accept that the culture he grew up in certainly played a significant role in the decisions he makes
I do agree with what you are saying and well as TH03 even though he seems to be a little angry.

Are we saying that life has not taught him that stabbing another human is wrong? We are not talking about a 9 year old that is acting out something he saw on a cartoon. We are talking about a 20 year old person who has been in life.
This all still comes down to choices. Its not training. He ABSOLUTELY KNOWS that what he did was totally wrong and what the consequences are. Probably more than any of us since it appears he has been around it more. But he still CHOSE to do it. Nobody forced him to make that decision
If we use that "verbiage" , and I will use since "excuse" seems not to be a safe word, then when does it end? If a 20 year old is not held accountable for killing another human because he had a bad childhood, at what point do we enforce the rules? We are not talking about stealing some sneakers or even accidental death. We are talking about taking a knife and stabbing another human to death

So a 17yr old is immature, self centered and irrational? Imagine that
He is not 17. I dont believe.

No one has said he won't be or shouldn't be held accountable for his choices, they are just trying to paint a picture of the kid's life as to what in his life could have led to these choices. No one is condoning what he did or saying he shouldn't be punished because he had a terrible upbringing. People are simply saying that single or no-parent homes is a contributing factor to those that lead a life of crime as adults, among other things.

Buddy more or less called him a pussy and thought he was faking his concussion. It wasn't until he threw up after very minimal physical exertion that Buddy realized he wasn't faking. Wright then threw a temper tantrum, which I kind of get. Football was his only "out" and he felt that by not playing all of his offers would disappear. Neither Wright nor Buddy handled the situation well. And Buddy showed that he played favorites. That DT that ended up at Pitt was a complete a-hole and got into a physical altercation with a coach but Buddy continuously coddled him. Wright probably needed it more than anyone on the team given his background with no positive influences in his life. I'm not going to say he caused Wright to settle for being a criminal, but he certainly didn't do anything to help what appears to be a very troubled kid.

quote:The whole reason season 2 took place was because of Buddy's image. The funny thing is that it didn't take long for the real Buddy to show himself once again. The whole situation with the kid from Penn State was just arse backwards and screwed up. I also find it funny how chummy Buddy was with Hugh Freeze.

I'm curious how a guy like Lindsey Scott Jr. is dealing with a personality like Buddy Stephans & Bo Wallace.

What a terrible story. Feel awful for his girlfriend who seemed so genuinely sweet

I'm sure Scott hates him, but Scott is a smart kid and his starting QB so I'm sure Buddy kisses his arse.

Damn. Like other said, you could tell he was going to fall off towards the end of the season. Was really rooting for him to get his shite together.
