Where do I start? You don't even remotely have the theme of the book correct. And you go downhill from there.
Trumps is full of shite and gaslights on the daily. Very much like 1984. Trump will tell you what you saw and convince you everyone else is lying. Sounds similar to me.

Trump ran on a platform that the establishment was totally fricked up and crooked.
And millions bought that an unprincipled billionaire huckster was the right messenger for this crusade. Joke.

Hillary is the most establishment candidate in American History. What are you talking about?
Must not be such a powerful "establishment" after all.
Oh wait. It's now the reason the president can't govern for shite and derives his greatest victories from social media hijinks?
Must've regained some of that omnipotence.

I don't understand what the guy's even arguing here. I'm pretty sure he doesn't either.

I feel the same about you which can only mean we disagree on what is credible.

His arguments seem canned, I literally see the same ones a half dozen times a day under news articles.

In 1984, the goal of the authoritarian government is always, in all cases, to bend the thoughts of the people to the lies of that government.
Her comments, in even a small excerpt, are true.
Samuel Goldstein was the leader. The logic and reason being questioned was the idea that 2+2 always equals four, no matter the pressure from an authoritarian to convince you otherwise.
In 1984, the press was controlled. As of now, it isn't. That could change, based on Trump's desire to sue them and make lots of money. But the press today investigates and shares facts. If you control them, 2+2=5. If you silence experts, 2+2=5.
It is about simple dominance.
In her example, you eliminate evidence, and force the idea that 2+2=5, regardless of data, evidence, facts, and what you see with your own eyes.
The idea that Donald Trump is a strong Christian is evidence of this. He's never done a Christian thing in his life. But if you call everything fake news, repeat the lie, and demand that people believe it, a large portion of them will.

Trumps is the one who tells you media is lying to you and to trust only him. That is 1984. Dont know why that is hard.
Trump doesn't control the distribution of that message. Hillary did which is why the media has very actively tried to silence all non-Leftists since then. The only media Trump has complete control over is Hannity and Alex Jones.

Cause she sure as frick does day that 1984 is about our need to trust leaders and media. ROFLMAO
And she's right in saying that we SHOULD be able to trust them. Of course she is also a major example of why we do NOT trust them, ,and so once again the hypocrisy is staggering, but she's absolutely right, if the people can trust neither the government nor the media, democracy is on its way out in that country.

It means that he has never done anything, in his life, that Christ would look on and say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Maybe he's done one or two. I can't know everything he's ever done. But he loves to brag about charity, and how much he does to help everyone with everything, even if it never happened.
So it's a safe bet that he's not only not done much, but pretended he has.
Christ would never look at that and say, "Nailed it."

quote:You buy that narrative? A few state polls missed meaningfully, but the national polls were well within MoE. All the same outfits underestimated Obama's victory in 2012 FWIW. It happens.
Polls - the 2016 election showed they're horribly skewed to favor DEMs
quote:Imperfect doesn't mean untrustworthy. Biased doesn't mean incorrect. If the alternative is a bunch of oddballs on YouTube and a pack of conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones and Mike Cernovich...ehhhh.
SMEs - much more neutral than the others but expertise has been shown to be untrustworthy (look at how we can't replicate studies in all fields) and biased to the liberal side (eliminating the ability to study/discuss certain issues)

Not a direct comment on your post, but...
I always wonder if people realize that Orwell was a socialist. He wrote this as a reaponse to what he saw as a corruption of philosophy by communist.
