You are just upset that you got called out for thinking you had some sort of special ibuprofen.

When I have a cold, I take Aleve-D Cold and Sinus to alleviate symptoms during the day. You have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter. I take NyQuil at night. This combination seems to work pretty well until it runs its course.

Advil. Gypsy Cold Care tea.

I love NyQuil. When I'm sick I just take a swig and then I'm out for a while. If I'm still sick when I wake up, take another swig.

no ... they probably prolong it ... once you get a cold, you have a cold ... no medicine will shorten it ...

Ibuprofen helps if you're really ill

I take that daily during flu season. I like the raspberry one.
Does absolutely nothing except that it gives you fluorescent piss.

What's the benefit of 800mg ibuprofen pills?
You only have to take one pill vs 4
You don't want to be taking 800mg doses on a regular basis though.
ETA: Best thing for a cold is rest and fluids. It just has to run it's course.

Balvenie 12 yr. double wood single malt
So you take one of each and then wash it down with the glass of scotch? Or how do you take it? I prefer the 15 yr single barrel myself, but that double wood with the Sherry oak finish does had a great taste.

Pretty much nothing shortens the duration. Every few years evidence points to this or that helping to shorten the duration, then it gets debunked a few years later.
You can get symptom relief for a lot of things with OTC meds. Flonase, 2nd generation h1 blockers (xyzal, Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra), whichever throat lozenge your a fan of, possibly Sudafed for 3d max.
Otherwise, have a hot toddy, Bishop's Wine, or just a nice glass of tea with honey. You'll feel bad for a few days, get better with none of the above, and move on with your life like nothing happened.
Lasts longer than 10 days and isn't improving or starts to get worse after ~7 days? Head to your primary care doctor, maybe you need an antibiotic.

There is no cure for a cold, but there is shite available that helps you deal with it without out feeling as shitty.

Avoid colds and all manner of illness by taking mega-doses of vitamin c.
Or don't.
It has worked for me for years now.
If you want to hear my story just ask.

What's the benefit of 800mg ibuprofen pills? The only thing I can think of is that taking 4x 200mg pills, because they're the same pills, the ibuprofen release ends earlier while a single 800mg pill takes longer to fully be absorbed.
But I have no clue.
If it's prescribed it could be covered by insurance or something like an FSA/HSA. Regular ibuprofen off the shelf typically isn't covered.

We get it. You're a nurse
And we get it.. You are an idiot for going to the doctor for a cold so that he could write you a prescription for something you could have bought without having to go to the doctor.
You could probably use some advice from a nurse.
