So how did we look overall?

Was there any improvement in any areas from last week? Did the run blocking improve?

Other than a lot of stupid penalties, we looked great last night. Things really started clicking with the new schemes on both sides of the ball. Next week at MSU is going to be something to see.

D started slow but is still nasty.
Offense looked great.
#7 looks like a #7.
Kicker sucks.
imho.

Defense was nasty like usual
Offense had 222 rushing and 232 passing so very balanced.
Field goal kicking looked like it could potentially come back to bite us.

Kicking looks like a real problem. Chark and Greedy Williams continued to impress.

It was a middle of the road FCS school with a backup QB. I know I'm in the minority here, but I do not think we looked like world beaters last night. The oline did not dominate like they should. There is REAL concern there. Danny threw several ill advised balls (into double and TRIPLE coverage!). Against better teams, those are turnovers, not long completions. UTC moved the ball against us and if it wasn't for some timely, great plays (giving credit to LSU here), UTC would have scored more.
BYU is bad. UTC is not good. I don't think LSU is nearly as good as it appears against the cupcakes.
I do love the young DBs. Those boys are good.

Very sloppy play, which is usually what happens when installing a new offense. However, there should have been improvement in that area from game 1 to game 2, and there wasn't, we actually regressed. Us regressing in the penalties is a direct reflection of our head coach. When you have a position coach as your head coach, these things happen.
Also, did anyone else notice how many times they basically said coach O was essentially a position coach, last night? They mentioned it a few times.

The starting d-line next week should be : key , lawerence , e. alexander, Chaison. Gilmore is better than last year but when lawerence and E. Alexander are in there they put so much more pressure on the opposing QB.LaCouture and gilmore should be backups going into Sec play. We need the best players starting.

Give me a break.

Is that why you said it?

If LSU doesn't step up it's game on all levels we are facing a loss to Mississippi State. The Bulldogs seem to have a pretty good D, a much better kicking game, and to this point, a better offense.
Not to mention, they play largely mistake-free compared with us.

we were able to accomplish most or our goals of playing a lot of guys, improving red zone offense and being more balanced with the run and pass. at times, we looked like world beaters on both o and d.
however, at times we were very sloppy. we had 10 penalties in the first half alone, most on offense but some on defense also. we missed 2 of 3 field goals and somewhat improved our kick offs by putting 2 or 3 in the end zone. our return coverage is still suspect imo. also on the negative side, our OL was inconsistent and there were a number of plays where the Mocs were in our backfield very fast and Etling or the RB failed to execute due to that.
Etling hit some very difficult long passes and he was right on the money. he missed two passes to wide open WR's about 15 yds or so (he was being chased by a defender on one of those). Brennen was OK and would have had a TD easy if the WR had not dropped a ball that hit him in the hands. i'm not sure how many back ups were in the game at the time but the offense looked pretty sloppy at times for him. the kid seems to be a great passer and just needs more reps.

I'm still on the fence. We dominated the teams we were suppose to dominate as most other SEC teams did. Beat what seems to be a good MSU on the road next week then I think we will have a better idea on how good this team is. With that said...enjoyed most of what I've seen so far.

Undisciplined and young. Expecting the worst but hoping for the best.
O-line still weak and our DBs will get torched by teams with a decent QB with an O-line who can pass protect.

Spot on. Looked like a 4-6 loss team based on what I saw from our opponents with the exception of UF.
The schedule will be the downfall of a young team with a new offense.
Etling was Harris throwing those pssses into coverage. Way underthrown in a couple.
Just a bad game overall.

They seem to settle down as the game goes on. I think this team improves as the season progresses.
I give a B grade overall right now. Haven't seen the exasperating offense, or very many defensive breakdowns but penalties and FG kicking are worrisome.

This concerned me also. Etling made some really good throws also. The OL is way to inconsistent. The penalties are ridiculous.
Our RBs are legit though. As are our skill position players. I'm just going to go ahead and make the comparison. I haven't seen our D ball hawk like that since 2011.
We'll know more next week I guess.

Some of our fans have extremely unreal expectations.
I saw one really bad pass, the one he overthrew across the middle. The passes into coverage worked exactly how they were supposed to work, playmakers making plays.
