Person who made that letter believes in price gouging during disasters too.

it's fricked up becuse what if you are going somewhere you can't get back to in 72 hours. if i lived in jacksonville, the closest reliative i have is..... little rock. that's 17 hours no stop on a good day. i'm not making it back in 72 hours.
so your choices are
1. stay here and die
2. leave and get fired

You quit a job because you couldn't wait until shift was over to go to the hospital?
Is watching your mom squirt out a kid a common thing in Arkansas?
Were you also the father?

I kept reading the memo waiting to reach some outlandish part. But it never happened.
Seemed pretty reasonable to me.

3. Hotel or campground?

In that case, I'll take a large stuffed-crust pepperoni.

Doesn't really seem that egregious to me. They are trying to set expectations for what they need from their employees.
+1
Also, getting 42-50 hours early off just for saying "I'm evacuating" seems fair.
Also, notice how the 72 hour policy doesn't explicitly state you will be disciplined for not being back, nor does it say how like it does in other places in the letter. That tells me they are leaving it open to case by case discretion. I promise you they just want to set a timeline for when they need employees to contact their supervisor.
Otherwise you'll have people rolling into the door with excuses weeks later instead of keeping their supervisor informed about their situation.
IMO, if you haven't returned 3 days after the storm passed, you are either being forbidden by the government, or you are milking the evacuation into a vacation.
If the former, its the moot point.
If the latter, frick you.

This.
I know things get crazy in evacuations, but you can't tell me the first open hotel youll hit leaving from Florida is in fricking Arkansas.
See condition 2 in my above post regarding not being able to be back in 72 hours.

None of that is unreasonable.

It was the principle of the matter I quit becuase i made them way too much money selling the shite out of cars and i come to work and i'm sitting there wiht a hole burning in my damn throat crying for 5 hours and they wouldn't let me go to the hosptial. This wasnt some shite you can cure by going over the counter it was bad enough they kept me overnight.
and my sister is my only sibling. her father is a pastor not a bum. stop fricking sterotyping. my mom is the most religoius person you will ever met with a masters degree from the university of arknasas she ain't some ghetto black woman you're trying to protray her as.

Did.....did this thread just turn into a millennial thread?
At least its more interesting than the one a few days ago that was basically just bashing millennials for renting at a higher rate than all other age groups.

I'll add this to the reasons I don't eat Pizza Hut. Right behind shitty pizza and some personal grievances from the 80's involving their "Book It!" program.

I don't think it'll even be a hurricane when it gets to Jacksonville

Go work in a storm shelter as a volunteer. It's an eye-opening experience to say the least.
I'll be generous and say that for about 70% of the people in a given storm shelter, your statement is true. It's an inconvenience, maybe even catastrophic.
The other 30%? Definitely treating it as a vacation. A lot of them too lazy to get up off their asses to go get the free meal they're getting.

17 + 17 = 34
Sounds like you'll have plenty of time to make it back.

That's why I added campgrounds. No offense but you seem like a guy that focuses on problems and not solutions.

Presumably that first 17 hours would have been evacuating before the storm hit and before the 72 hours post-storm window started.

1. We'll close before the storm 2. If you're evacuating, let us know 3. You can't use evacuation as an excuse to take a week off 4. Please be prepared and get supplies now, don't wait 5. You're expected to be at work unless you've evacuated 6. If you've evacuated, call us None of that seems unreasonable.
