There is a guy on one of the Florida State sites that does a great job as well. As a BYU fan, I was upset at the PSU performance but I did not study film as this guy obviously did.

Lot's of sticks, shallows, and corner concepts. Closest to the West Coast offense we'll see

They might move it between the 20s pretty well for a while.

Granted LSU has some fantastic athletes. Fortunately, there is also some experience and coaching that come in, and if lots of youth is in play, mistakes are made.

Playing cornerback is one of the toughest position around for young players.

Cagey, experienced players can still make plays against inexperienced talented players from time to time.

Our corners are experienced though. Safety is as well, but we are likely going to play some freshman because these freshman have performed better than the veterans.

I don't get where y'all are hoping we have all these freshman on the field without also having veteran options. We do have veterans at every position except two areas. RG, and MLB. Coaching isn't a problem at all, in fact is a huge advantage for LSU. We have Aranda who has proven to be one of the better teachers of defense in the country.

At the positions that we are playing freshman is IMO the #1 SS in the country, the consensus #1 and #9 MLBs in the country. We will also play the #1 pass rushing buck LB in the country. These aren't just freshman but guys our coaching staff think look so good and technically sound that they are performing better than the veterans. These guys were going to get plenty of playing time anyway. Now that they know they have to step up they may perform at an even higher level. Going from Alexander to Jacob Phillips and Tyler Taylor isn't exactly an advantage for BYU bud, I'm sorry but these guys are talented not just great athletes but smart football players. Veteran like. They will make more positive plays then they will negetive. You WILL NOT physically challeng these boys either. They are both 6'3" 240. The other MLB is 6'1" 250 and could have played RB for anyone in America.

Even if you guys do fool our younger guys for a while, it won't last all game and you will need it to. I predict you guys will have to throw the football to move the ball. You will have to get creative on first down to be in good down and distance. Aranda will eventually clamp down on your offense. We will all see very soon.

I'm not clicking on that link because I don't give a flying frick about what "some guy on one of the Florida State sites" has to say about anything.

Another year, new opposing fans joining the board. But at least you're not pounding your chest as much as they usually do.

For the record I think we will win handily ....if they respect the opponent and show up ready to play. I, unlike some people here, do not think LSU is a middle of the pack program but this would NOT be the biggest upset in college football this year. If a team shows up thinking they can coast thru a game and doesn't respect the preparation they can lose. The way everyone is dismissing BYU, we better win and look good doing it. I expect BYU to play disciplined football and to be well coached and I expect the same from us.

It was an analysis from a knowledgeable LSU fan from another LSU site.

I only commented that the analyst ranks with the FSU fan analyst who obviously understands football. Most fans appear to vote with emotion, not with knowledge and experience.

I think it will be like most of the games we have been seeing with talented superior teams waiting for their opportunity to bust the game open. It might be close for a while but with the coaches we now have and the prep I know LSU has done in the offseason, this will be a totally different LSU team.

Defense always has taken care of business, even though our offense put them in pressure situations. If you take those pressure situations away, then the defense, no matter the few freahman we play, will perform at a much higher level. This offense will be explosive, something LSU fans or opposing fans just aren't used to. I know BYU fans think LSU will have mass confusion but even in the spring game, when the offense was installed a few weeks prior, Etling had a great handle on it. They have had much more time to add and perfect things, so I would expect a very crisp offense if I were them. Not to mention LSU bringing in help for the WRs who are behind on their technique, which has helped them tremendously.

Not only is our OL very good but so are our TEs/FBs, watch for Moore, Moreau, and Tory Carter to help block as well. Don't be surprised to see Guice be used as a pawn at some point in this game. Canada is a smart coach and play caller. We have tons of backs that are just as talented as Guice in what they do, maybe not all around as good, but can absolutely hurt you. See Clyde Edwards Hellaire/Williams.

The defense will be looking for the TO, and ST will be more aggressive this season. I really wouldn't be surprised to see 2 maybe 3 TOs in this game, a score on D, STs, or both. It's going to get real for BYU real soon. Now I guess we could stink up the whole game, I doubt it, but it is football, and kids playing it, so we'll just have to see. I'm not going to say we will blow them out but I could see that happening. It's CFB, anything can happen.

You can be sure Aranda has seen all of that and figured a way to stop it. They don't call him the professor for nothing.

the fact your WR's cannot get seperation will allow us to run blitz and pass blitz you into oblivion. we can just key on your RB. Your Qb cannot run. that takes away zone reads and power reads outside and inside. it takes away RPO's with the QB as well. go ahead and run your inside and outside zone runs. you better pray they work to open up your pass game. you better hope your line gives him time AND your WR's get seperation. I simply do not see that. now you may burn us on a few blitzes. few blown coverages. but it is far easier for young kids to play man and pin their ears back than certain zones from a mental standpoint.

Basically this film tells me to take away your Very talented TE, RBs, and get pressure on Mangum. I saw 3 instances where Mangum got the ball off against PS where he will not be able to against LSU. LSU will likely let you get these little short routes, but punish the person catching it so he thinks twice about it next time. They will take that TE away, while stopping the run at all cost. They will take that deep ball away, so the only passes you will have, will be the little short passes with mixed coverages, so that our defense can try to strip the ball away or go for the INT.

Our two freshman MLBs are very good at reading the QB. Idk man I just can't see too much offense from BYU. I can't just can't. You will likely break a few plays but nothing consistently enough to win or hurt us. Our DL is going to be the best you see all season. Hell our LBs with the freshman will probably be the best you see all season. Forget about our DBs. Mangum just hasn't seen a defense like this yet, it's going to be tough for him. Coach O, Aranda, Canada, Robinson, and the old legend will have this team prepared. I'm just ready to see the Tigers play a game. I might have a little purple tint on my looking glasses but I'm trying to be honest here too.

You may be correct. BYU fans were very disappointed in the play and some are down on Detmer as an O coordinator. We have been consistently down on our receivers.

OTOH, BYU can surprise from time to time, and the game against number 1 Miami in 1990, yes ages ago, involved a team that thought BYU had no talent and BYU had struggled the week before.

LSU certainly recruits more highly regarded athletes, and should win. LSU has great, no fantastic recruiting classes, very good coaches and some good schemes, in your back yard.

BYU has much less, blue collar type talent, is accustomed to being disrespected, has been defeated soundly from time to time, but still gets up to fight again.

I don't have a good read on this team yet. BYU's running game is not where I'd like it to be to balance the offense. If I wagered, I'd take LSU. But...

I am happy to see BYU play LSU, and even if LSU pummels them this time, I would love to see another game and another. Colorful intersectional games are what college football is about. Nobody really wants to watch directional state schools, although as an independent, sometimes BYU is left with only those options.

Glad this game got scheduled. Here's to a good, hard-fought game and no injuries and good fortunes for the rest of the season. Take out Bama for us, please.

u seem like a very reasonable guy. BYU could indeed stay with LSU this year. We have a lot of new stuff to work out. If it works out we win by 20 at least but if not, the game will be closer.

Cannot wait to see the game. Good luck.

No back is close to guice. Maybe Darryl has better hands but I'm not even sure about that. I look for Williams to have a big year though

BYU will not roll over
BYU has never meet an Aranda Defense
BYU has never seen defensive speed like LSU

I like your enthusiasm, but BYU has played a number 1 Florida State, when Detmer was QB, and got rolled btw. BYU played Georgia when Hershell Walker was on the team and played against Eric Dickerson and James.

BYU also played a number USC that won the NCAA Championship IIRC.

Yes, BYU has played that type of speed but not often and rarely with good results.
