re: The "athlete" narrative and LSU

Conversely, imagine never being told you have good athletes. You should be proud of your athletes. You will never ever hear the narrative that BYU's athletes are good, just blue collar types.
I like your enthusiasm, but BYU has played a number 1 Florida State, when Detmer was QB, and got rolled btw. BYU played Georgia when Hershell Walker was on the team and played against Eric Dickerson and James.

BYU also played a number USC that won the NCAA Championship IIRC.

Yes, BYU has played that type of speed but not often and rarely with good results.

re: Tailgating for game in Nola

What is normal Tiger tailgating fare? Is it mostly Cajun, or a bit of this and that? Never been to an LSU game before, and won't due to venue change, but still jealous of all being able to make it down there.
You may be correct. BYU fans were very disappointed in the play and some are down on Detmer as an O coordinator. We have been consistently down on our receivers.

OTOH, BYU can surprise from time to time, and the game against number 1 Miami in 1990, yes ages ago, involved a team that thought BYU had no talent and BYU had struggled the week before.

LSU certainly recruits more highly regarded athletes, and should win. LSU has great, no fantastic recruiting classes, very good coaches and some good schemes, in your back yard.

BYU has much less, blue collar type talent, is accustomed to being disrespected, has been defeated soundly from time to time, but still gets up to fight again.

I don't have a good read on this team yet. BYU's running game is not where I'd like it to be to balance the offense. If I wagered, I'd take LSU. But...

I am happy to see BYU play LSU, and even if LSU pummels them this time, I would love to see another game and another. Colorful intersectional games are what college football is about. Nobody really wants to watch directional state schools, although as an independent, sometimes BYU is left with only those options.

Glad this game got scheduled. Here's to a good, hard-fought game and no injuries and good fortunes for the rest of the season. Take out Bama for us, please.
It was an analysis from a knowledgeable LSU fan from another LSU site.

I only commented that the analyst ranks with the FSU fan analyst who obviously understands football. Most fans appear to vote with emotion, not with knowledge and experience.
Granted LSU has some fantastic athletes. Fortunately, there is also some experience and coaching that come in, and if lots of youth is in play, mistakes are made.

Playing cornerback is one of the toughest position around for young players.

Cagey, experienced players can still make plays against inexperienced talented players from time to time.

Kids are kids. Lots of unique places in the world, yet teenagers and young adults often ignore what's out there. Take kids to Rio or Cairo or Rive Gauche and you will get some of the same result.
There is a guy on one of the Florida State sites that does a great job as well. As a BYU fan, I was upset at the PSU performance but I did not study film as this guy obviously did.

Don't Tiger fans, in addition to the usual fare of beer and perhaps whiskey also drink some of the New Orleans cocktails, such as the Vieux Carre or Hurricane?

What is the favorite drink of Tiger fans? Please don't say Corona.

Well, at least you can be proud of something, insert macabre humor

Again, I will defer to you in that. Interesting question, but I am far enough removed to not be facile with the two tools to form an opinion.

I am uncertain on Big Bang, and am attracted to Barbour's Eisteinian time free model or Steinhardt and Turok’s cyclic cosmology, now that you ask.

That is complex, and I certainly don't know enough to dispute what Wang and O'Connor wrote about pygostyles. Your opinion, which will be more informed than mine?

Thanks. Bill Martin has done a lot toward that.

Correct me, as I am no expert on anything especially not lokiarcheota, but isn't there a belief that Lokie and Eukaryotes share a common ancestor?
I-H8, I wouldn't be so down on your team, the Tigers have a chance.

Oh well, I forgot about that renegade phylum. You got me there. Well done.

I was out of school long after that phylum was discovered. What did Carl Woese know anyway.
Until it gets off Schedule 1, it will be difficult for it to not be tested for college athletics, as long as Sessions is the AG.
