I haven't had time to get on lately thanks to work, and my Lock's gotten everything done except for NF this week. 
Think my goals this week are to do NF, Raid, Shattered Throne. And maybe play the Hunter for his Weekly Challenges with people if people are on.

Baws, just used this video to get a raid chest. I've never done any part of the raid and I didn't have to fight anyone. A little bit of platforming got me the raid rocket launcher.

I think NinjaPups on YouTube has another video for a 2nd chest. Gotta be a warlock or Titan to sword fly and get to it though. Actually looks easier than this one

I honestly wish Bungie would figure out how to keep people from getting rewards for activities they did not complete.

nah helps add fuel to entice people to complete the full raid and get to max light level

They can still achieve max light through the current system. It may take a couple more resets, but they're not locked out of power levels because they don't raid.
I get that a lot of people disagree with me. And that's fine. But as someone who dedicates time to grinding and looked for a larger group so I could participate in raids, there is no excuse others can't do the same. Why should they get the rewards for something they simply did not do?

speaking for myself. I'm indifferent to finishing the raid right now because I don't care enough to find a good group to do it. but I'm highly interested in trying to solo those raid chests to increase my light level giving me better odds of getting in a good group to complete the rest of the raid.

Those chests don't reward powerful gear. The encounters do.

So the only advantage of doing this is to get “Raid gear”? It doesn’t help light level, right.

The raid gear has a chance to come with the taken mods. I don't think any other gear comes with it. The curated weapon rolls are better than almost anything else in the game.
And yes, I get there is no level advantage. My point is when I see someone in raid gear, it would be nice to know they actually did something to earn it.
Eta: For reference, Bungie removed trials and raid clan engrams giving trials and raid gear for the same reason in y1.

So just did the Shattered Throne, man that was a blast. Felt like a 3 man raid activity, I hope we continue to see more and more of these type of activities.

This is the first time in Destiny Ive ever been able to do this. I'm sure there's been ways before though.
I'm guessing that "portal" where you put the code in is mostly for people who eventually have beaten it a lot and want to just get to different points in the Raid.
Plus it was only 524 (I'm 529 light) so it's not like I all of a sudden got some super light boon.

I just play at night after the kids go to bed. I've detailed a few times in this thread how I've been able to maximize power level gains.
