I know y'all move a lot of optics. So, in your opinion what are the top 5 pistol oriented red dots by popularity, not features? Also, do you know if the base dimensions for all Trijicon RMRs are the same, vary by the 3 general types or different per specific model sometimes even within the same type? I tried to get drawings from Trijicon, but they can't figure out how email works.

Even though the RMRs are the most expensive I still think they're the most popular.

The battery powered and dual illuminated models have the same dimensions. I showed that in this video:

I think you are right. I've talked to some guys and they say they machine way more slides for the RM06 than any other RDS.

Thanks for the link. I'm doing some CAD/CAM for slide milling so I really need to know down about the 4 thou if they are the same in regards to the relief holes for support bosses, through holes and front radius tolerance. It would save a lot of time it they were. I've got another request in with Trijicon so hopefully they can get it through this time since other manufacturers have replied almost immediately with drawings.

I would think they are all the same. The ATOM slides have the different adapters for each optic. They only have one that is for the RMR. If there were different mounting specs I would think they would have different RMR adapters, but I could be wrong.

My M&P Core came with a bunch of different baseplates if you need to fondle some. Obviously the RMR base is on the gun but the others are just sitting in the box.

Well that means mounting screws and bosses would likely be placed the same or the plates have generous tolerances, and since ATOM/ZEV/etc have over sized pockets it doesn't say much about the OAL. I'm shooting for more of a press fit and so far it looks like some of these RDS dimensions can vary from .05" to as much as .1" within the same SKU for hole placement, diameter and overall length and width. But then again making those adjustments per sight isn't really a problem once you have the basic model drawn up.

I might take you up on that since I can 2D probe the plates on the CNC to create the basic model then make adjustments from there instead of starting from scratch. Although, probing takes a really long time to complete at resolution I would need to do it.

Not Chris, but I know a thing or two about RDS-mounted pistols
RMR is still the most popular by a long shot. Others would be
Deltapoint
Docter
FastFire
Venom/Viper/Razor
they're all the same

It looks like the DP, FF and Venom are too long to put in font of the rear sight without hitting the firing pin block on a glock slide. Alternatively, you could move the rear sight to in front of the optic, but I feel like this would be an unpopular option as it seems most like to have the rear iron behind the optic. Glock got past that issue on the MOS guns by moving the rear sight further back, wish they would add that feature to the Gen 3/4/5.

That's what Unity did with the Atom. So sick

I feel like the optic gets a lot less protection in this setup. The rear sight sort of acts like a barrier for the RMR on my core, even though the RMR is pretty damn robust.
I think the Aimpoint micro on a handgun is the dumbest looking shite ever. Adds weight and slows down the speed of the slide but I guess different strokes for different folks...

Those dovetails for the rear sight look like they are positioned centered above the firing pin block. IIRC a glock factory dovetail is like .08" deep and theres only about .06" of material, if that, covering the firing pin block hole. I wonder if they milled into the pocket and then just cut relief for the firing pin block spring into the rear iron sight. Without some kind relief the trigger pull would be noticeably heavier, if you could even pull it back.

not for me, but it was made for a reason. some military branch requested a slide with the ability to mount a Micro so Unity made it.

ill ask them what they did, but the trigger wasnt affected at all. Zev trigger felt great in it.

Yeah, let me know.

Does anyone have experience with the alg six second mount? Seems like the rds would hold up better without the recoil.
