Love the guy back at the station..."Ok, we're gonna take a break from that."

Yep, real easy to just go on to a different story.

It can't work both ways. They report and bring attention to it and people can begin helping. They stay away and then those who flooded bitch because no one knew about it and they didn't make the news.

You are conflating things to try and make a point that is non existent.

CNN & Co can objectively report the news without having to interview folks at the wrong time and use them for ratings. Show the disaster. Show the people getting saved. Report about charities on the ground doing good work. All of that brings attention to the situation without being a condescending prick about it.

They shouldn't be asking insane questions like that, but these moments do need to be recorded for history purposes.

its because they simply "forgot" how to "cover" the news and just "report" on things and instead they are in news "making" mode where they think they have to "manufacture" stories and "setup" things to report on.

i honestly think they no longer understand "how" they should act

I don't think CNN possesses the ability to report without being condescending pricks.

once in a lifetime flood

Only problem with this statement is these once in a lifetime events are happening all over the coast within our single lifetimes.

Every channel covering the storm is doing that. Most people seem more than happy to talk. I guess CNN found the one pissed person who vented.

That's all media. Ain't got nothing to do with liberal or conservative. Of course the questions are ignorant.

That said, what you watching for? Forecasts?

I saw one clip where a reporter stopped a rescue crew while they were trying to get to someone caught in the floodwaters. She interviewed them for a couple minutes while the guy was hanging on to a street sign.

Well don't speak with them . The Reporter is just trying to doing her job.

This. I'd get her point if the reporter had shoved a microphone in her face as she was arriving, but CNN didn't yank the lady and her kids off the cot and thrust them in front of the camera. They walked up on their own.

Hardy Jackson

That was real, though. And Mr. Jackson wanted help from the media. And the reporter was clearly not trying to use the situation for personal/media gain.

Still the most powerful live piece I've ever watched...
