Upvote because this is a legit question. I'm a flood adjuster and based on the last 3 flood events in the Houston area, from NRG south down the 610 were the most impacted areas. The stadium itself will be fine, but the surrounding area could easily be 1-2' underwater. I stayed 2 blocks from NRG on the last 2 flood events, the most damage was within 15 minutes of my hotel.

Legit post
Likewise and this is correct. All you have to do is go back a little over a year to realize this is a very real possibility. They are estimating upwards of 20 inches of rain and a tropical system stalling over the area. And Houston is extremely flood-prone. If you'd like to go back for reference. See tropical storm Allison 2001.

Houston is not columbia, or new orleans.

obviously New Orleans is flood-prone. But as an adjuster, I've spent more time working flood in Houston than anywhere else. You have no clue what you're talking about, and I don't even care if you live there. You have no clue what you're talking about

I have a question, why, in these current times, do people freak the frick out for every little weather event that may or may not happen?

Well, Houston didn't have to spend money on removing statues that could have been used on pumps. When Houston floods, it floods in the same places; downtown along the bayous, and 1-10 west just past downtown. NRG will be fine, there won't be any evacuees hosted there, nor has there ever been. The game will go on, quit buying into the news hype, and take a deep breath.
Totally get your point, Nola is run by idiots.
However, Houston has a broken levee that was only discovered august 4th and they are currently installing sandbags around it in anticipation of the storm

This is also not an acceptable grammatical sequence. In other words, who gives a shite if I made a grammatical error in a late night rant post online. I believe you understood what I was trying to communicate ;).

I've been living in Houston for more than 20 years. Even when it does flood, the city as a whole is pretty much back to normal within a day or two... although it can wreck a lot of homes in the flood prone areas. But these are the same areas that seem to flood with virtually any rain. Hardly proof that the entire city would be shut down. I've never heard of it impacting hotels the way some are describing. If that has ever happened, it must be very rare. The Rhita thing was mostly an overreaction to what happened in New Orleans. The evacuation turned out to be way more destructive than the storm was. I would say short of an apocalypse, plan see the game here.

Looks like someone reads the Rant.

People saying "Houston isn't Nola" have no idea what they are talking about.

Houston, especially the area close to NRG, has experienced extreme flooding the past couple of years.

This is a real concern.

Even if Houston experiences flooding, the rain will have been gone for nearly a week by the time the game will be played.

Evacuation =| Evacuees huddled in some government structure likenNew Orleans and the superdome.

Yes, obviously some of us leave town and low lying areas when a hurricane is coming. My point was we don't frick up like the dumbasses in New Orleans did.
