In Jim Mora "Playoffs" press conference style from when he was with the Colts: Tenn a toss up??? After losing their starting QB and RB?? Toss up?? You wanna talk about toss up.

According to NCAA research, Florida is the state with the highest % of high school football players recruited by an FBS school (9.9%). Georgia is second (8.6%) and Louisiana third (8.1%), all three located in the SEC footprint.

You don't think that even if LSU started un-ranked and finished with only one loss they wouldn't be in consideration for the playoffs?

If we win the SEC champ then it wouldn't matter but if we don't then there would pretty much have to be two SEC teams in the playoffs so we would have to start out pretty high to still make it.

Figuring that there would be 1 or 2 undefeated teams already in, we would have to be ranked above at least a couple of 1 loss teams make it. And lets face it, the rest of the country doesn't want to se two SEC teams in the playoffs.

Exactly pre season rankings suck. Interesting hearing Joel Klatt saying today that Auburn is fools gold and the only team that can dethrone Bama is LSU. He also said head to head he wouldn't put coach O on Sabans level but that our coordinators are better than Bamas and maybe the best in the country.

The AP is an important poll. Essentially, all that this really means is that we're pretty much guaranteed a spot in the playoffs as long as we don't end up with more than one loss.

Essentially, it means we appear in decline. Weren't we in top ten in past years?

Just jerking your chains, LSU kills it this year!

I think y'all should beat Florida, Tennessee and Arky. I think Auburn is the next best opponent but you should win at home.

Canada/Aranda is the best coordinator duo in the country right now IMO. Kevin Wilson/Schiano at tOSU and Elliot/Venables are the next best. Coach Pete/Lubick and Kwiatkowski at UW are darkhorses.

LSU is a very scary program with an offense that isn't in the bottom half of the SEC...
