Done this before, get an ozone machine, put it in the truck for 24 hours, blast it, then leave the windows rolled down for a day or so. It got rotten seafood smell out of another car

Before the baking soda, wash every surface of the interior, including the roof, dashboard, steering wheel and carpet, with a towel soaked with water and dishwasher soap. Let the soapy water sit for a few minutes then, before it dries, wash it off with a towel and clean water. Repeat that a couple times.

Before you start, tape over any sensitive electronics like the radio and ignition.

Cigarette covers pot smoke.

Trust me... I've used cigarettes to get out of a few situations.

Does it promise to get rid of it permanently or is it a temp fix?

If you like the truck enough, bone up and redo all the upholstery.

Try placing a bowl of fresh coffee grinds inside truck. I have heard that truck drivers swear by this to rid their trucks of smells from hauling things like seafood.

Do you have a wet / dry shop vac? Mix a carpet cleaning solution with water and put it in a spray bottle and spray the seats and get them very wet. Then scrub them with a brush.

Then suck out the water with your shop vac.

That should help with getting the smell out of the seats.

You can also wipe down all other surfaces, including the headliner. Also clean the windows because chemicals stick to the inside of your windows and can emit odor.

As for the air vents, you can buy a product called Clean Air:

You spray it into your vents from the outside as you have your AC running full blast. It cleans out and deodorizes your ducts.

You can also use Ozium, baking soda, etc.

Ozium. Don't just spritz the air with it though. Saturate everything in the cabin. Do a few passes of total saturation, letting it dry out with the windows down, saturating again and recirculating the inside air with the AC and repeat these steps until the smell is gone.

I did this with a car we got for one of my kids that the previous owner had smoked in. Put coffee on floorboard, run heater for like 10 minutes, the ac for 10 minutes. Knocked it way back. You can get a faint smell every once in a while, but it is way better than it was.
