The Les staff didn't like him for some reason...but, once they were gone, he was on the field.

We lost a lot of receivers so he's making the most out of that opportunity

I saw him get roasted a few times in the spring game at DB and wondered why he was even offered. Glad they found a spot for him and he's showing out.

After Gage's first two years, I wondered if he would ever be more than a third stringer.

But he persisted, hustled in practices and the coaching change gave him basically a fresh start. Gage is also a very good blocker for a wide receiver.

Coach O and the staff deserve credit for figuring out that Gage could contribute much more as a receiver than a defensive back, something Miles failed to do.

Under Les and Cam he was not getting much attention. Coach Steve and O gave him a chance and he is delivering.

Another perfect example that these rankings don't matter much. LSUs class is perfectly fine. Have a great mix of prospects, with a chance to add more Elite talent. I'm just ready for this season to get under way so all the doubters can disappear. This is going to prove to be a great staff, maybe elite staff, yep I said it.

Pretty sure Les Miles was still here when they switched Gage to WR. Didn't play him but he was switched under Miles.

They were the ones that recruited him, but they didn't like him?

He spent his entire career switching positions and not doing very well. He worked his arse off to become a decent player that they rewarded with playing time over some complacent players

Things like this are great for the team.
Guys like JD Moore getting to wear the 18 shows a great example of hard work and perseverance paying off.

I addition to obviously being able to play, I think Gage was added to the starting line-up as a message to the other players:

Absolutely not! This is silliness on stilts.

I'm glad for Russell, but those 5 catches against TAM are his only catches. If he shows out this year, I'll be impressed. According to the rant, how is he ahead of Davis, Anderson, Sullivan, etc? It maybe heart!

Quote from Davis ...

quote:

“Like Russell Gage, when he wants to do something, you can’t stop him. Because mentally and physically, he’s able to do it, so you can’t stop that from happening. That’s the level I’m trying to get at.”

Only because he wasn't a 4 or 5 star. They get al the attention because recruiting sites know it all.
