Oregon fricking hates California's guts...their entire modern history is the slogan "don't Californicate Oregon." "Keep Californian's out!" (Which was always code for keep immigrants out, as California had the largest # on the West Coast.)

Oregon was founded and has operated as the opposite of California - a lily-white desired Utopia for those fleeing Reconstruction South.

During the Civil War (1861-1865), the Oregon legislature approved additional anti-black prohibitions, including a black poll tax in 1862. The state also prohibited whites from marrying not only blacks but also Chinese, South Pacific Islanders, and any person with more than half Indian parentage. The law, on the books until the 1950s, also punished the person who performed any such marriage ceremonies with a fine and prison.

Oregon had the largest KKK chapter west of the Missippi until the 50's. Oregon could join Utah and Nevada and Montana and Wyoming as their own nation and that would make WAY more sense.

Believe it or not but America being as big as it is, is a defense against the other powers who would see us dismantled. By becoming smaller you just weaken your power and influence in the world.

The USA would never be at peace then. Especially us "central" folk who just want to be left alone.

As much as California produces - the west and northeast nations would be bankrupt in a decade.

Therefore:

The "New York" Nation would became the hand of Saudi Arabia.

The "California" nation would become the hand of China.

And they're spend all their capital trying to subvert the "Central" nation and control its natural resources anyway while attempting to goad Mexico into undermining its sovereignty.

We'd be in an all out war on three sides.
