PS2 on HDTV

Earlier this week my coworker and I were talking about "classic" games we used to play years ago so this made me want to get an used ps2 and play them again. Can you run a PS2 on a modern HDTV? Do you need anything special?
Also, what was the biggest memory card available for the PS2?

As long as your TV still has audio/video cables. I am not aware of any HDTVs that don't have those, but I'm not positive.
I would suggest investing in some component cables. You get a somewhat sharper image as well as the ability to run compatible games in 480p.
They make third party wireless controllers. I bought a cheap one off youtube, and the input lag is definitely noticeable when playing Tony Hawk. Logitech made one that may be a bit pricey today but should work better.

I think I remember having a 64MB (lol) memory card. It was a 3rd party though as I think Sony's largest was 32MB.

A lot of the classics are available on PS3/4 digitally.

Any system NES and forward should have no problem connecting to a modern TV. The only system I own that I can't hook up to a modern TV easily is an Atari which uses a two lead connector.

It's mind boggling how much storage has come. I remember the Nintendo GameCube memory cards made by Nintendo were like $60+ for about that much storage

The $8-10 ones on Ebay mostly have this weird dead zone on the sticks where you can't move in a certain direction

I think the best option unfortunately is the wired OEM PS2 controller.

It is, unless you go with the Logitech one. I have no experience with it but have heard really good things about it.

You can do why has been suggested in here but in case your tv doesn't have AV hook ups they also sell a PS2 HDMI converter online (think I got mine from Amazon) for less than 10 dollars
Just a square block you plug into the AV jack on the PS2 then plug HDMI into the back of the block
Just have to plug the converter into the USB post on the front of the PlayStation for power (to date the only use for those USB ports i know of)
