The Sewerage and Water Board is now counting a total of 16 pumps out of service as of Thursday morning (Aug. 10), raising the number of pumps from 14 that City Council members were told Tuesday were not working.

Maybe if they had a couple extra million laying around, they might've been able to fix them.

the water didn't cause NOLA businesses to flood, it was the statues

Whoever is the president of the Sewage & Water Board should be jobless.

"I can't even begin to tell you how frustrated and angry I am at the inability of the S&WB to communicate clearly," Landrieu said. "We pride ourselves in this city on everybody pulling together and everybody doing their part. ... It is clear to me that I did not receive the information I needed to make decisions" to communicate to the public.
Landrieu added that he remains unsure that he is receiving updated information as of Thursday.
"Today is not the day to go into all of those details because last night I signed an emergency order as the result of the fire" at the plant that houses the turbine, Landrieu said. He said that it was only revealed Thursday that there was not a backup power source adequate
"What I do not understand is we did not make provisions for redundancy," Landrieu said. "We now find ourselves in a vulnerable position."

The announcement was made during a special meeting called by the mayor, who serves as president of the board, to review the utility's response and to act on his request to terminate Becker and Martin.

He has been the Teflon Don, but this could be his Waterloo.

Becker said that number doesn't include the ones down for routine maintenance and the ones not turned on and the one she that were turned on, some weren't working at their maximum capacity.

So, Landrieu is the president of the board? If so, I guess shite really does roll downhill

When he refers to being angry at the SWB's inability to do X, Y, or Z, I don't believe he grasps the fact that he is responsible for that.

What a clown show
During the 7/22 flooding event a pump ran backwards. You can't make this stuff up.

Waste money on statues and race baiting...all the pumps break and the city floods
karma is a bitch

Does maintenance for pumps/drainage etc even come from the city?
S&WB is technically a separate entity. Could the funds from removing statues even have gone to any of this?
