We don't have to worry about Deckard pulling any punches in the long-awaited Blade Runner sequel.
The Motion Picture Association of America recently released a bulletin from the Classification and Rating Administration (via ScreenCrush), and it confirms that Blade Runner 2049 will be rated R. The film contains "violence, some sexuality, nudity, and language."
That means that director Denis Villeneuve was able to work with a tone similar to what Ridley Scott used in the 1982 classic, which was also rated R. It's always risky at the box office when a film doesn't garner a PG-13 rating, but as Deadpool and Logan proved, it's certainly not a problem if the movie is good. And it's not like all that many tweens have seen the original.
Here's the official synopsis for Blade Runner 2049: "Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos. K's discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years."
The cast also includes Jared Leto as Neander Wallace, a manipulative replicant manufacturer along with Robin Wright (Wonder Woman), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Edward James Olmos, who reprises his role as Gaff.
Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters Oct. 6.

My fan status of the original is unquestionable.
I think I've figured out the plot already - they're all replicants and Deckard knows it because of his experience with Rachel. "Humans" just don't have the 4-year expiration.
This was a big question from the source novel. It has been a question for fans of the film. There is even a conflict - Ridley says he directed the film as if Deckard was a replicant that didn't know it. Ford says he played the part as if Deckard was human.
Great science fiction themes, though, as "what does it mean to be human" is at the essence of most great works of the genre.

yeah i'm assuming in addition to your big reveal, he admits he figured this out because Rachel died and he didn't after he discovered he was a repilicant. i figured this (some derivation of "humans" are replicants and Deckard is a replicant) had to be the plot when i saw Ford in the trailer. nothing else really makes any sense

The voiceover from the theatrical release says she didn't have the 4-year lifespan AND we get a happy ending scene of them driving in the sunshine up Route 1 or equivalent. Ridley specifically removed these in subsequent editions.
The problem comes in when we consider that Rachel was presented as a prototype - if they're ALL replicants, then this means they're pursuing this technology without knowing it has already been invented and they're it - sort of movie within a movie type vibe. Almost a Matrix-style mind frick, if we're to accept the reality of this film universe.
Keep in mind - it is Ridley's position that this universe exists in the same universe as the Alien franchise, and by extension Predator. So that opens up tons of possibilities.
