Miles to the NFL. Book it. He'll start as Passing Game Coordinator for the Patriots and then take over when Bill Belichick retires. Tom Brady is excited about the news.

Les Miles is a perfect example of refusing to change because you believe you're right versus actual results. We all admire uncompromising men because they're brave. But it is the ability to change and compromise that can make coaches some of the all time greats.
In Miles' case that wasn't stubbornness. That was stupidity. He obviously thought he was smarter than everyone else, but he wasn't, he was more stupid than everyone else, except for Rickdaddy, that dude is the smartest ignoramus in the world.

utter bull shite. miles has enough legit flaws to bring up with out making shite up
I should have said very heated arguments because that's what they were.

You are trying to conflate two decisions into one. Firing Miles was unquestionably a good decision. Hiring his replacement was a completely separate decision. Whether it was a good one has nothing whatsoever to do with whether firing Miles was a good one.
Actually, that's just Rickdaddy trying to hijack another thread and turn it into another pissing contest between Coach O and Less Miles because he is obsessed with hating Coach O.

ole miss is no where near a top level job.
Don't worry Rickdaddy, Ole Miss isn't stupid enough the hire Less Miles.

Dude, don't make finebaums point valid in your post trying defending miles, thats what you just did. You look like a complete fool.

Game plan and style of play was not the problem. Lack of above average QB play was the problem.

You still aren't getting it. Those are two separate decisions. Miles wasn't going to change and we weren't going to reach our potential with him, so he needed to go, period. Then, we decided to hire Orgeron, which may or may not turn out to be a good move, but has nothing to do with Miles needing to go.
If you're standing in the path of an oncoming truck, it's a good idea to move out of the way. If you decide to move into the path of an oncoming train, that's not a good idea, but still doesn't mean you should have stayed in the path of the truck.

No Les was stubborn. Everyone knows the game changes and you have to adapt but Les refused to do it because he was either stupid or stubborn and I don't think he was stupid.

It would make no sense for Ole Miss to hire Les Miles. Les Miles took an elite program and led them into irrelevance.
Would be like the ridiculous move South Carolina made hiring Will Muschamp to resurrect their program. He couldn't at Florida, how can he do it at South Carolina?
Sort of like LSU hiring......well.....nm

It's not that big of a gamble
It's a major gamble replacing a winning coach. I dont care if we talking about Les, Mack Brown, Richt, or Fulmer. Like Les or not, but the guy had the highest winning percentage in LSU history and was still winning at 71% in his last three full years which was second best in the SEC.
Again, we are not talking about a coach with losing seasons or not having ranked teams or a 60% full stadium.
And I am not saying Les should have stayed, but this fire and hire are major gambles.

An hypothetical: there are rumors all over the office, for mths, that you will be fired. Time winds down, your boss calls you in & tells you that you have to change your philosophy or else. You promise to change your philosophy. A few mths later, you still have not changed. Your boss fires you. Is that being stupid or stubborn? Call it what you want, CLM made his own bed.

there are some real knuckleheads on here. oh, i'm an idiot cause I don't know what stubborn means.
please look the word up in your dictionary. it means willfully obstinate.
what I said is that it's beyond miles willful control.
let me give you a golf analogy. you know the worst thing you can do is try to hit the crap out of that golf ball! when you do that, you end up "swinging from the top" and send off some gorgeous slices. you know you shouldn't do it, you make up your mind, and try to exercise masterful control over your will to not swing so hard. instead, as you start that swing, the joy of "power" arises, singing through your whole body, and you swing like hell. you tried your best, you wanted a nice, smooth swing, but you couldn't do it. you were not stubborn. you were out of control.
can any of you eggheads understand that?

Yep. His "style" produced 114 wins over 11 seasons. What other teams achieved that over a similar period?

".........God bless, Les. you were a one of a kind......"
Thank goodness.......

Yeah, damn smart move replacing him with a DL coach.
Well at least if CEO fails it wont be because he refused to make changes.
