At least in the engineering world employers very much care about entry level applicant GPA.

There are definitely companies who hire new grads, regardless of their degree, as long as they have a good GPA. I know this specifically does occur.

If you have experience, I'm sure GPA doesn't matter, but if you're a new grad it can affect your ability to get hired on at certain companies.

I was told after your first job they never ask again.

That's funny. Right out of college some of the first questions I was asked in multiple interviews were about my GPA

Same here. I felt lucky if they asked about my degree. Guess that's what happens when you start at the bottom and work your way up.
