That was shown to be false in the math problem thread yesterday. But, by all means, troll on.
BA in History. Intended to go to law school but changed my mind. Got into teaching so that I could coach and stayed there.

I have a Master's in Education Administration. Got tired of the bs (and low pay) in teaching and left.
Now work in oil industry....don't regret it at all, much happier now.

Yup, two degrees - criminology and finance and I'm the furthest thing from either in oil and gas procurement There was a reason behind it however.

CommD major. Went into finance for 16 years, now I'm a construction estimator/project manager.
It all depends on the field of the company you're applying to. Don't apply to be an engineer if your degree is in 19th Century Women's Literature. But you could get an entry level banking job just because you have a degree.
ETA: I tell people that if they're not sure what they want to do, pick a degree that forces you to take math/economics/upper sciences; something that requires math reasoning. You open yourself up to a lot more fields than, say, a history major. Also, writing skills are very overrated nowadays. I have had CEO's of multi-billion dollar companies send me emails using text language. Verbal skills are more important than writing skills.

History Degree - Been with my company for 22 years as a Director of Product Development / Buyer. I wanted to be a teacher but decided not to.
Law school was my play, but the profession became too watered down and my dad and brother (both attorneys) told me not to do it, despite them being successful. Too hard to find really good jobs and quality of life was poor.
I am now getting my MBA and work in a business consultant role for my company. Taught myself SQL and some other stuff to do data analytics. It definitely set me back not having a background in it, but I'm back on a solid trajectory I think.

I got a nonrelated engineering degree and now work in software development for O&G
Posted on 8/3/17 at 3:23 pm to Yaboylsu63
I started out in my field until I realized working in sports does not pay well at all. It would take many many years of being poor until I made a decent return. After 2 years, I moved to sales.

Kind of.
Degree in Comp Science, job is in management for a video game company. Cant say i havent used my degree as leverage over the competition as its helped me make more informed decisions overall in my industry... but I cant say I couldnt have done it without as i had a solid technical understanding of things before college..
