Wait, a GOP senator is going to disobey the will of his/her voters because of trump's approval rating? LOL

If you, out of principle, support tax reform, then you vote for it. Period.

They need to get some wins, but yeah, I would tend to agree. You don't run away. You regroup and try to get through some legislative wins.

RAISE act is a good place to start.

Absolutely. But strongly approve number is dropping. That is a bad sign for trump.

Yeah, I figured someone would post that.

This is a shite poll for trump. I know most here will dismiss it (not you, you seem sane) but it portends more legislative failures. He has to figure out how to make his administration work. He gets tax reform done, and suddenly all his numbers will go up.

I doubt that happens though.

Yep. It isn't a good poll.

He's definitely going to lose in Sept 2017.

And if you look at the trendlines, they are all going in the wrong direction for trump.

No big deal. We know that the "Establishment", "Globalist" and "Chamber of Commerce" factions of the Republican Party vehemently oppose Trump and they want him to fail. The Dems want him to fail, too. We know that, so, we don't expect any polls to show that Trump is wildly popular. This is not news. This is not political news.

You say that the Republican Party and the Democrat Party and mass media's combined efforts to defeat Trump have had an effect on his job approval numbers? This is totally expected and it's not a problem. There is only one poll that counts and that's the poll in which the US electorate gets a chance to again vote for Trump. THAT poll is a long way off.

In closing, I will remind everyone that the long-term trend here in the USA is towards bigger government, more socialism, more big govt spending, more globalist intrusion into our national sovereignty, more social unrest, less nationalism, less individual freedom and a US dollar that has less value. Whether Trump serves for two years or eight years, there is absolutely no reason to conclude that Trumpism is going to halt or reverse any of these trends. IMHO, nothing will halt or reverse these trends.

My advice is to find a way to become a member of the Ruling Class because the peons of the USA are going to have a tough row to hoe as history unfolds.

It will shore up his base, but probably not help much outside of that.

I dont really have a problem with it, although I would prefer not to slash legal immigration levels. But frick, a merit system makes much more sense than the family shite we do now.

Trump's tumbling down to his hardcore base level @ 25 to 28%. He's rock bottom around 25%. GOP will abandon ship.

I agree, but he has plenty of time to turn this around. Get a few wins, and suddenly boom, he is back on his feet.

The thing is what are the wins going to be? I don't think budget, or tax reform is going to happen.

I guess Raise but I bet that doesn't help much outside his base.

No. It should be a warning sign for RINO's wanting to thwart the trump agenda. Dissatisfaction comes from lack of accomplishment.

Let's hope at least some form of a tax win gets through congress.

The RAISE act is another thing that could be a win.

Trump has thrown his support behind it .It's now on congress to get it through.

RAISE needs 60 votes to stop a filibuster. It would have some trouble getting 60 votes even without the English language "extra credit" stuff added in there.

Trump seems more interested in pleasing his base than getting his stuff passed.

I think there are some things he can still win. If the economy continues to chug along and produce good numbers each month that's a win.
A huge win but also a huge If is if Kennedy retires he's able to put another conservative on the bench.
I honestly believe tax reform and infrastructure can really help or hurt him going down the stretch.
Illegal immigration will be consistently good for him.

I was looking at a Gallup poll from April of last year and people's overall trust in Congress is 17% damn near single digits.. throughout Obamas terms it's averaged at about 20% so you can't really say it's one party that's hurting that number the most it's collectively both parties.

A lot of this shite falls on Congress as well

He can quit putting stuff like the English language credit language in it.

I know this is heresy on here, but governing requires some compromise. He only needs 8 dem votes to get to 60. If he leaves the English language thing out of it (which all the dems and media will jump right on), he probably gets to 60, gets it passed, and gets some momentum.

Yeah, Yeah, I know. Fake news is anything about trump you don't like.

Trump had something like 28% favorability ratings and he won the presidency.

It's meaningless.
