MacBook Air
It's getting phased out, but would be perfect for your needs. FYI, Best Buy will match any price if you want to go and pick it up.

The speakers on the new Macbook Pro's are pretty amazing for a laptop.

I'd go with the 13 inch mb pro. As mentioned, the screen on the air is a deal breaker, and the 12 inch mb is slightly too small, and powered by a mobile chipset, so a standard laptop (pro or air) should provide more future proofing.
If on a budget, try to get the previous generation 2015 MacBook Pro. There isn't that much difference between that and the newer iteration, especially for your intended use.

I've had an HP for 7 years and I do all the stuff you described plus used it in college. I can't really tell you anything about the processors and all that, but my computer cost about half of the MacBook Pro and has lasted me 7 years with no problems at all.

Side note- dumb question but what's the easiest way to move music from my iPhone to iTunes on the Mac?
Plug your phone in to the computer
As far as your wanting a MB for longevity - I just did a hard wipe/ios re-install of my 2010 MB Pro. Runs like new.
