No it's not. You have to have a job to get it

just so we're clear, the DOI has no part in forming our actual government
hell, we had a whole different federal government b/w the DOI and our current Constitution
lastly, trying to extrapolate "life" into "healthcare" is ridiculous for about 100 reasons

Can I ask what ought to be obvious questions?
First, groundwork. I happen to agree that we should have a basic level of health care available to all. Note, I didn't say EQUAL health care, but yes, I think we can figure out how to ensure people are taken care of.
So. My questions are simple.
1. Why don't we simply approach needy people in need of health care the same way we approach needy people in need of food(welfare) or needy people in need of housing(public housing, etc)? We don't look at people who need housing and say, "ok, build em all the same kind of house the guy with the 6 figure job has".
2. Basically, why do we need to effectively nationalize health care for 30 million people? It makes no numerical sense. We could simply have needs based public assistance like we do for anything else. Why not?
3. And, let's cover the hard one. Why can't we treat the person CAPABLE of buying insurance that prioritizes other things the same way we treat the person CAPABLE of buying food that prioritizes partying all week? "Whoops, looks like you'll be hungry.........bad choices".

rying to extrapolate "arms" in the 18th century to arms in the 21st century is ridiculous
not really, and most importantly, that discussion is direct
regulating what arms we may be able to purchase falls in line with the philosophy that "just because there is a right doesn't make it absolute", which is completely different than taking a VERY general concept (life) and trying to fit in an indirect, only slightly tangential concept (healthcare)
if you want to make a weak comparison, i suggest using the various examples of "speech" instead of "arms"

in what way did "life", as meant by Jefferson, include "healthcare"?
why did he never push for government programs for health care? certainly you have some historical data to support this allegedly direct association
