I re-aggravated it this morning just picking up 15 lb plate.
Godfrickingdammit.
Guess I need to take all of next week off just to make sure I'm fully back before I start again. I worked out MW just fine while keeping everything light, which was the plan again today.

I won't laugh because I know how aggravating it is. I screwed my SI joint doing Hack Lifts when I was around your age. Never been the same again. Trust me, you don't need to dead lift for what you are trying to accomplish. You're not 25 anymore.

I've given serious thought about just switching to RDLs, as I'd like to be able to still lift some.
I was feeling pretty good all week, but when I woke up this morning, I could tell my back was more tender than it had been, not sure if I slept awkwardly or not.
It's frustrating as frick.

I have not
Although starting yesterday I'm starting to feel some sciatic nerve pain, which tells me it is almost certainly a rupture disk
I might have to schedule an appt, but what will they tell me other than specific stretches and exercises that I already know?

Not necessarily. You could have pseudo sciatica. It's stemmed from the piriformis. I had it and coincidentally deadlifts fixed it.

by the time I get an appt with a GP and then get referred and scheduled with a sports doc, this will all be over most likely

I've had disc pain from deadlifts. Just rest. Don't bother with a doctor. When you have no more discomfort, start back slow. It took me 8-10 weeks though mine sounded worse then yours. I couldn't stand up straight for 10 days without pain

I have slight scoliosis so I get kind of scared to do deadlifts.
When I was squatting on the smith machine at Planet Fitness it only made it worse. Now that I have Olympic bars at my new gym, it hardly ever hurts.
I'm kinda nervous to get back into deadlifting though. My gym has a hex bar so I wonder if I should try that.

IMO, when there is a problem with your spine, you should get it checked out. If anything you'll get Meds for the pain

You're prob right jeff. I don't like Drs though and don't like pain killers. Unless something is broken I stay away

I like the idea of just using KBs, which kinda eliminates the possibility of over extending
my problem with DLs is that since I lack flexibility, I have to bend my knees too much to get to the ground, which causes me to over extend to get past my knees
It's feeling better this morning. Just kinda tight, which I expect is from my workout Sunday in which I did a lot of hyper extensions and weighted hip thrusters
I'll probably do another work out like on Thursday and then maybe bump it to MWF next week and see how I stand then

Salmon, I'd suggest getting a work up by a sports or exercise minded chiro or PT. The Supple Leopard book will have some common faults and mobility fixes for your (what sounds like) functional limitations.
Medical management for these types of conditions (if not surgical or injection warranted) is not typically best for active minded individuals. Pain killers and/or anti-inflammatories help in the short term but rarely are the long term fix. They do have natural pain and anti-inflammatory injections as well as dry needling, ART, & Graston technique which could be helpful.
You want to rule out anything major first though I do agree with a previous post. Having xrays, MRIs, etc in a full workup might be warranted depending on the history and exam.
It's also been my experience that people who are as active in a gym like yourself or others on this board benefit tremendously from having these types of physicians at their disposal for possible future acute injuries as well as maintenance and preventative care to limit these occurrences.
