We will have 9 days. Smaller 25 foot motorhome. We have taken this size on 6 other trips and know we will be in the slow lane. lol Want to go to Gettysburg and will spend a few days in DC. Never been to either. Recommendations?

Gettysburg is amazingly power. It has been years since I have been there, but want to go back. NPS has tried to restore the battlefield to as close as possible to what it was in 1863 - removing trees, etc. so you get a better feel. The driving tour is nice, but get out and explore by foot to get the best experience. There are also guides that can be hired that can explain the battle and movements in detail.
DC - so much to choose from. I could spend a couple of days jus in the Smithsonian museums. For a first timer, I would say must sees are Lincoln, Jefferson, Vietnam and WW2 memorials, as well as Arlington. Spend at least a day to go in and out of a couple of the Smithsonian buildings - Air & Space and American History would be 1a and 1b with Natural history a close 2. If possible, do a Capitol tour, and also check out the US Archives, at least the part where the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights are on display.
