He can run a little but he could get hurt easily. Not really built for that. And even though ppl don't like him it's crucial imo he stays healthy. We finally have a smart experienced qb. Hopefully his back really did hinder him. I expect a solid year for etling. He's gonna prove doubters wrong.

Not a lot of big plays. Not a lot of down field passing. Not as overly impressed or optimistic as some others.

I hope it works better than it did in the Spring game

Seems to me like Canada's offense is predicated on making the other team make a mistake or line up incorrectly, which is something I don't love particularly for this year because during the Miles tenure, it seemed like it was our own offense lining up incorrectly for the most basic of plays (thanks, Les).
That said, Canada's hallmark has been his flexibility and his ability to cater his offense around the personnel he has at hand. I think he'll have a lot of success at LSU, but the bar has been set pretty low for him, so there shouldn't be a lot of pressure.

There are two things I like about Canada's offense.
1. Differential play calling. Involving all of your offense, and utilizing your playmakers. Passes to the FB, easy completions, jet sweeps, and power running.
2. Time of possession. They did a great job staying on the field, I hope he can do this at LSU and give Aranda's defense a rest on the sidelines.

I'm sorry but I just don't see how James Connor was a 3rd round pick.
He had such a huge season his sophomore year but ever since that injury he hasnt looked the same. I too was surprised to see him drafted so early. He doesnt seem like an NFL back at all. He had awful combine numbers but he still got drafted very high. Ran a 4.65 40. No breakaway speed, on these films seems to go down on first contact a lot and sometimes his cuts just dont fool anyone.

My question, is Moreau or Moore as athletic as their FB? I know our guys are very talented, but their FB seemed more of an oversized power RB who did pretty well when running the ball.

Thanks OP. This gets me so jazzed.

Moreau can match what their TE was doing and I believe Moore can do what 35 was doing but I don't think he'll have to quite as often. I think both Williams and Mouton will take a lot of those FB sweep carries and catches in the flats.

1) there were several plays of 20+ yards. Maybe none went to the house but that's more on the athlete than the play call. All the OC can do is call a play to get you in the open field, the player has to finish.
2) not a lot of down field stuff for 2 reasons. First is that their WRs aren't very good and the second is that the Oline isn't very good. If you can't protect the QB for long and you can't get open downfield quickly then you can't throw deep.

Same thing I've been thinking while watching these videos. A lot east/west running and the down the field passing seems to be non-existent.

The threat of #10 Quadree Henderson really made Pitt's offense thrive. I don't think we have a guy that could play that role this season. Maybe Russell Gage, but I dont think he has the speed. Derrick Dillon could be an option but I haven't seen him take a meaningful snap yet.

Pitt vs UNC (Canada vs Gene Chizik)
Very Milesesque stat sheet
18 pass attempts - a lot of which were dink and dunk around the LOS
55 rushing attempts
Will the natives get restless? I'm glad you are posting these. People need to understand that Canada is not here to open up the LSU passing attack. I keep seeing people post "wait until WR recruits see what Canada does and then they'll be lining up to sign".
The LSU offense goes into 2017 with a running style oline, an average at best qb, new WRs, and one of the best running backs in program history. This team is going to run the ball a lot.

This a 32 minute video of every play after Pitt already had 7. Another one of those ESPN/ABC scheduling FU's. The video shows Clemson and Pitt's offenses.

Agreed. I am not excited about this offense.
Long developing plays that fast SEC defenses will eat up.

Good thing Canada tailor's his offense to the personnel he has. Pitt's receivers were garbage so he played to his personnel's strengths. Also Guice takes a few of those 10 yards gains to the house.

Dillon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire should be able to fill that role more than adequately.
