I'll take 10-3 if we get another sec title. I want to pass UGA and tenn in the next decade.

What is the name of the person we should have hired in your opinion that would have been a better hire than Coach O?

Fisher, Herman, Fleck, Aranda, Canada, Mullens, literally everyone else that was floated during our half assed coaching search

I'm not crazy about all of those candidates, but they all had a far better resume and potiential that O.

I expected Coach O would have to go 7 and 1 to be considered in the running for the LSU head coaching position. However, after I watched the Florida game last year and considered the way that we lost that game, I still thought Coach O was qualified to still be in the running.

I assume the first statement is a shot at Miles. It doesn't matter what year it is or how much better as a program LSU from 20 years ago. No program recruits itself. To think that is false and delusional and there are countless examples to prove it, like Texas. Dismissing other programs as not LSU or is myopic delusion. You need a good coach and recruiters.

I don't see how you can say this before he's coached a single game as full time head coach.

He's made great hires, extended our top of the line D.C., and held together the recruiting class.

becasue common sense says invest in the known before the unknown. we all hope it pans out. that still does not make it a great hire based on KNOWNS and UNKNOWNS at the TIME OF THE HIRE>

THE SEARCH was a GOT DAMN JOKE. There were better coaches out there. do you deny any of this?

because regardless of the outcome it's
a bad hire when you hire an old career position coach that has never even proven he can be a successful coordinator, let alone head coach.

Considering all we know about the search was what was leaked to the media and the little Alleva said, I don't think anyone outside of LSU brass is really qualified to say.

Herman was parlaying LSU into a better offer with UT. That was painfully obvious to me and should have been to you with his ties to the university. Fisher wasn't coming here for a reasonable salary (if at all)

The other retread crap that was out there and would have demanded 5 million+ a year wasn't worth the investment. (Gundy, Fedora, etc.)

From LSU's perspective, hire a guy that loves the school and is an A+ recruiter on a low paying deal and if he doesn't work, cut him loose and try the market again in a couple years.

What's the point of asking this? Your underlying premise of asking this is that Coach O was the best guy available.

Any answer that's given will result in you dismissing it, regardless of the strength of the supporting evidence.

so you just punt on the next 3 years?

if we were gonna hire someone on staff we should've hired Aranda.
or hell hire Canada as the HC. any up and coming coordinator would-be been better than Ed Orgeron.

this notion that ed orgeron loves the school is laughable. he took shots at lsu every chance he could.
