Really???? Given the situation he stepped into. Granted the team had talent BUT: A new O coordinator mid season, shaky QB play at best, a strong Bama team we hadn't beaten in 6 years, interim label for O, and a myriad of others issues any team firing their coach mid season would have had.

I mean, we're talking about 2 losses here....2!! I didnt expect to beat Bama and yet we still competed hard for most of the game. The Florida game we pile up yards and dominate the lines but a few stupid azz plays cost us the victory. We still slam Arky and put TAM in their place.
If we beat Florida, are we even having this debate on O's prowess as HC?

Nobody expected him to run the table, but I expected him to need to run the table to get serious consideration for the job.

It was a bad hire. Go find Madking and Tiger Ree and have yourself an O circle jerk.

The team was loaded with talent for a title run last year. Miles/Cameron were so damn incompetent they made Orgeron look respectable. However the loss to Florida was unacceptable. Zero points against Bama again was a joke. Orgeron may work out but he was definitley a bad hire at the time.

But we didn't. And even if we did, he is still the worst coach in Ole Miss history, and not even a Sun Belt school was offering him a HC position.

No, it would have taken an incredible job on his part to go 8-0.

And it should have taken an incredible job for him to be given consideration for the permanent position.

Not a single person on this board or in this fan base would have given him any chance whatsoever of being the head coach at this time last year. Nothing happened during the season to change that but it was covered up nicely by a great PR campaign, a pathetic athletic director, and an amazingly gullible fan base.

Someone name a coach that would have faired better please? He went and hired the one OC that beat Clemson, retained Aranda, secured a top 7 recruiting class, smoked the Heisman Winner..,.,,,,

Give me one name nobody on this board would bitch about? Don't say Jimbo either, he's pissed away more talent than Miles in a weaker conference.

One name.......

That Mizzou game was fools gold for a lot of fans. Dismantling an SEC team in the first game post Miles gave everyone what they wanted.

That being said, Alabama was a toss up and the Florida game was lost by poor execution on multiple key plays in scoring position. Maybe that's on the coaches though.

Running the table wasn't really that off base when you look at the results objectively.

No, but I expected 7-1. The Florida game was super close though. I absolutely despised the hire, trust me, but I'm gonna wait and see if Orgeron can actually pull this off. I just hope Alleva has the balls to fire Orgeron the second it looks like it isn't gonna work. No fricking around.

This only doesn't work if Canada turns out to be a dud. Everything he's shown looks like he is set to be an effective operations manager. He cut the fat this off season with poor position coaches and recruiters, and looks to be primed to win games.

I'm tired of this coordinator argument. If you have to hire the best coordinators in CFB every year, then what does that say about your head coach?

I expected him to beat the dog shite out of a UF team at home that was missing almost its entire defensive line...if he was to even be considered.

When the game is tied 0-0 going into the 4th it's a toss up. I'm not talking about going into the game, but how it actually played out.

Based on what some "negatigers" are arguing about O, that doesn't appear to be offbase.

He lost two games by a combined 16 points. its not like he got us blown out of the water.

He wasn't expected to beat bama, that's fine. Then his DC calls the game of his life, holds them scoreless through 3, at home. And we trot out an uber conservative les miles game plan that hasn't worked in 5 years. That was my problem with that game. We didn't even TRY to win. He tried to keep it close for show points.

The UF game was an O screw up.
