No problem, I'm just going to enjoy my Sunday at my home in U club with my 4 year old. It's tough looking at this W-2 and loaded 401k knowing every car we've sold has absolutely come from fricking people over.
Those that have to brag on themselves are usually lying.....

Don't they make a ton of money from the service department.

Back in the mid 80s I cut a deal with a salesman and he comes back in and says the manager says no go. I said thanks and left as he walked behind me saying just stay and don't leave the car behind for a mere $500 bucks.
When I got home the phone rang and he said it s a deal. I said no go but if I change my mind I'd call back. I let him call me 3 more times and he finally dropped another $100. Haha, seems shite hasn't changed

Terrible life having to stare at a W2 or financial statement for self worth....to each his own congratulations on your roaring success. can you share some wallets or 8x10s of your monthly statements for us less fortunate souls?

I know people like you act like you don't care that you're scum. Preachers, car salesmen, lawyers, etc. But you are the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror every day. One day you're gonna wake up and realize you spent your life being a slimeball.

I did about a month worth of research on the truck I wanted before I bought it. Researched wholesale price, MSRP, manufacturer incentives (special financing, bonus cash, etc.) researched the trim and features of the exact truck I was going to buy and how much it was going to cost me while giving them a 1% profit.

I figured he was joking about the "fricking people over" line. I understand they have to make a profit, but he has to understand that customers like me, who want to politely minimize that profit, are not "assholes."

Fixed Operations consists of the following:
Service Dept.
Parts Dept.
Body Shop.
The net profit of these 3 make up the sum of what is called "Total fixed Coverage" (TFC).
Basically TFC is how much (% wise) of a profit fixed operations make to cover total dealership expenses. The higher the percentage, the easier it is to sell a new vehicle at a loss. Our store averages 53-59% TFC. Ideally 100% is the goal, but that ain't happening in today's world.
Service Dept makes money. If they don't, then the owner needs to find out why and make a change!

Look up the Will Cover technique thread from about 2012. Holdback is often a percentage of the MSRP that a dealer gets from the mothership for every vehicle sold regardless of the actual sales price. It's like 2% for GM. This explains it...

...and that our time is limited. We don't have time to jerk off in a dealership for 4 hours. All I want is a "yes" or "no" on if this deal is gonna work, then I want to sign paperwork and drive off. No reason the whole process shouldn't take more than an hour (if I've done my research ahead of time), and I shouldn't be forcefully upsold on bullshite warranties and gap. Just take my money and give me my car.

You will not like this opinion, but I've never seen a reason to go to dealer service dept if you drive a relatively popular vehicle

Don't forget about the additional incentives dealers get from GM. Like advertising $$$ and a few other items.
Also good luck on getting a dealer to give up hold back money.

Bought a 4Runner for the wife Friday. F&I guy got mad when I didn't buy any of his bullshite warranties or GAP.

I don't mind this part. While I won't spend 4 hours, I will spend 2-3. You learn more the more you talk with them. I can't imagine you'll ever get a good deal within an hour. If you don't want to waste your time, go in and test drive the type of car you're interested in to confirm you actually like it then walk out. Do an internet negotiation over a couple of weeks with multiple dealerships that carry that model. One is going to offer you something another said was impossible to offer.

Can I recommend doing the deal over the phone. Let the salesman do the leg work before you arrive. When the deal is where you want it tell the salesman to have the paperwork ready to sign and then go to the dealership. You don't waste your time at the dealership that way.

What site do you use to look up the invoice price? I'd rather just offer the invoice price plus $300. And get on down the road...
Honestly don't remember, checked a few different sites I searched up, price was the same so I went with it.

I mentioned those in an earlier post. While you won't get all of the holdback, you can get most. I had a GMC dealer agree to that and take off the ad dollars too. They didn't do that till the 29th of the month.

Last car I bought I went back and forth with my brother all day over the phone. I told him what #'s I had to have. At the end of the day I spent 10 minutes signing paperwork.
