Bedoya's actually doing good stuff! And I'm usually very lukewarm on him

Same here. That's puzzling IMO

It's because his wife is about to give birth

If that's the case then congrats to him. But SCH says it's because he can't cut it after the group stage so I'm not sure who to believe.

Asked about Eric Wynalda's constant criticism of him, Alejandro Bedoya cracked a grin and said he thinks Wynalda is having a mid-life crisis

Bedoya hasn't played well enough to warrant a place when it really counts for a while, but he just makes me love him with his comments from time-to-time.

Puzzling? I'd expect any of our first team scrubs to do nothing less than dominate against the caliber of teams in our last two games.

Bedoya is solid and reliable, that's why he'll get a spot. He wont quit working.

If you expect that, then you haven't been watching US Soccer for that long... or even international soccer in general.

Puzzling in the sense that you're bringing in several other solidified players to try and win the Gold Cup. There's several others who could go home before Bedoya that haven't contributed so far in the group stage. The fact that his wife is about to give birth makes sense on why he's leaving and not someone else.

Bedoya isn't one of our most talented players, but you can always count on him to bust his arse for the team and give 100% every time he's on the field. I absolutely love his selflessness and work ethic. It's true American grit and spirit.

He had a great game today, and now he'll get to be a father again.

Really tells you how much of a hot mess we were with Jurgen post-2014 considering that the 2015 Gold Cup was our A-Team and we had Haiti and an awful Honduras squad in our group.

Less than 2 expected goals... that is pathetic.

According to ESPN, Bedoya was the best player on the pitch:

SKC teammates Dwyer and Zusi were the worst.

MLS website agrees Bedoya was best and Dwyer worst:

It's the gold cup. We always underperform, because it's just a shitty tournament. It's either too hard to be motivated against the likes of Martinique, or it's a young team with zero cohesion.

So assuming those reports of the 6 changes are correct, our best XI with this roster now looks something like this:

Howard
Lichaj-Gonzalez-Besler-Villafana
Rowe-Bradley-Acosta-Nagbe
Altidore-Dwyer

More of a B.5 team now, but I think we have to be considered the favorites for this tournament now.
