Is MSM(manor) the best? Yard looks like a hay pasture when it gets long

Treating centipede and st aug

Msm worked for me. I didn't dilute quite enough and grass browned/yellowed for a week or two (st. Aug) but recovered nicely.

Will MSM also work on Dallis grass?

MSM will control the bahia, but dallis in Centipede is tough. About like torpedograss....spot treat (as precisely as possible) with Roundup

MSM is killer on Bahia in turf grass. I've had the same little bottle for four years Mix it at 0.05 oz per gallon and a teaspoon of dish soap. It will take about a week or two before you notice it's working. After a month your Bahia will be gone. Just wait a few days before you mow after you spray. You will be left with big bare spots. I usually mow high and my grass will fill it in

there are four acres of bahia in my front yard (former dairy farm)...i can see it growing back up behind me i mow

I would check with a local farm feed store. Most of the time you can buy a Bahia killer cheaper than at a lawn & garden store since there clients are farmers.

Best thing for bahia is Ally.

Ally is DuPont's brand name for MSM (Metsulfuron).

So you'd be correct, best option for bahia by far

Is it too late to use it this season?

Same for me.
Grandad had a really nice yard of St. Augustine before the termites finally got the house he built (built in the 1930's, mid 80's when termites got it). So my parents had a house built 50 yards or so behind the old place where the barn and garden used to be in the pasture.
Now I have 100 yards of Bahia out front with a nice patch of St. Aug to the south west. A decade ago some feral hogs rolled up about half the front, only the Bahia though, St. Aug was untouched.

So you are spray applying it? I've been mowing around my barn to get the native La. grass to grow but need to do something. Does it come in granule form that I could use a broadcast spreader?

Sorry to kind of change the topic. Have they developed anything for torpedo grass in centipede. I'm fighting a losing battle. I'd even be tempted to resod some areas but my neighbors have torpedo grass as well and they aren't going to resod.

Not yet, unfortunately

Target 6 plus will kill Bahia, Dallas, and crab grass plus a lot more weeds. Not recommended for centipede and st. Aug. though

Target 6 Plus is a brand name for MSMA. Pretty much used exclusively on Bermuda.
