Well just got out of it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was much different than I was expecting it to be. I was expecting to to be a hardcore war like the poster promised, but it wasn't and that's not a bad thing.

It was a fantastic swan song for Caesar as a character. I know Andy Serkis won't get nominated for Best Actor for this, but the Academy needs to give him a Special Achievement Award this year at the Oscars. It's long overdue.

That said I feel comfortable in saying that Dawn is better than this movie. Woody Harrelson is fine as the villain, but it's hard to top Koba. Dawn is just about perfect of a movie for me, but there's something missing in this, and I can pinpoint to being Koba. It's kind of like The Dark Knight Rises missing the Joker. It's just not quite up there due to that missing (although he does make cameos in visions).

Solid all around, highly recommend, but it's hard to make up for Koba.

I'm still processing.. All in all very good movie. Not a fan of how they handled Caesar at the end. Serioulsy WTF? Have him dive on a grenade or sacrifice himself for greater ape goood. He deserved to have a moment whether it be setting up future or sacrificing for greater good. This trilogy was all about him and he did not get the sunset he deserved IMO. I agree that Koba was a better villain. All that being said, I really enjoyed the movie and thought it was a great conclusion to the trilogy.

I thought the Coke product placement (abandoned truck) was a little unforgivable... I'm also not sure how I felt about the destruction of the second army. That said, this was a kick arse movie and a ton of fun. I highly recommend it.

I always saw it as a tad unrealistic for the apes the win an all out war with humanity having them kill each other off and quite literally devolve is a more realistic way of explaining how the Apes took over.

Woody's character was not as good as Koba, but it's a good reflection of just how low humanity has sunk that they're willing to massacre their own to save humanity.

With Cearser's arc over, I wonder if they'll remake the orginals with the humans on the ship returning to see what has happned to Earth. They have certainly been building to that.
