Miles winning 9 wasnt good enough so why would it be for O? Must win 10 or more or what was the point?

You do realize that Miles had a far better record than Ed O as a head coach when he was hired. You do realize, Miles has the highest winning percentage as a LSU head coach, has as many National Championship, BCS/Playoff bowl wins, Conference championships than any other coach in school history. That includes Nick Saban.

Miles is gone. We can not compare Miles and O.

Who is pushing this narrative that Les Miles was ultimately fired due to his record? Do people actually believe this.

Very well stated, the only issue I have is that the roster this year will have a total of 50 either freshman or RS freshman on the roster. So he gets a little leeway IMO, but not a lot. Like you said if he doesn't at least win 10 games regularly, what was the point?

Over time, sure. Year one where O is left to deal with the remnants of the Miles era QB situation and a first year OC? I'm not going to demand 10 wins in that situation. The way the team actually looks and performs and whether the coaching is competent or not is far more meaningful in year one than whether the record simply shows double digit wins IMO.

Agreed.

"seamless transition" was part of the selling point, and for the most part it was. With that, immediate improvement must follow.

If you're not moving forwards, you are going backwards. One of my favorite cliches. So to not improve, you aren't stagnant... you took a step back.

I wouldn't be saying 10 wins so firmly because of losing LF7, but you have Guice. So he gets no break for that.

Win 9 or better in first full season, with new coaches, and new systems, is about all you should ask.

Improvement from week to week, and year to year is expected.

Miles was hard headed & regressing. 8 games won each year was going to be the norm. That's why Miles was fired.

It's his first full year and he has some new coaches who will have to get their system up in a hurry. I also believe we lost more high quality talent to the NFL than we ever have before. The SEC will be better than it has been also.

So you cut O some slack his first season. I am more interested in if real change takes place in such places as clock management, special teams and play calling. If the changes in coaching philosophy and management take place as they should, then the wins will soon follow. Losing three regular season games is what I expect but wouldn't be too surprised if we lose four. But then again It woudn't be a shock if we only lose one also.

The football can take some crazy bounces and turnovers will make or break us if we get the rest under control.

"Miles winning 9 wasnt good enough so why would it be for O?"

Because its his first year. You're not going to fire a coach for winning 9 games his first year.

Next!

Miles was on his way to only winning 7 games or less a season.

And it would've been 10 had it not been for weather... Unfortunately for O and whoever comes next, the bar has been set. 10 is the number.
