I'm surprised that when Jon told the Northern Lords that dragonglass was more precious than gold, Davos didn't mention the fact that Dragonstone was build on the crap. If Sam's message to Jon is what prompts Jon to want to go to Dragonstone, then that is ridiculous considering Davos is basically his hand.

Davos' expertise was smuggling things into places, not getting them out of places.
