If EBT could only be used to buy rice, beans, discount meat, fruit, vegetables, and a handful of other healthy food you need to survive on no one would have an issue with it.

When I worked in the grocery store in high school W-I-C recipients were the only people who "bought" it.
The EBT not paying tax kind of makes sense. Just give them the net rather than giving them more to pay you back some.

If that were the case, very few would have it.
I've always advocated that EBT should only be used at designated food depots that solely stock healthy staple foods.
Don't like what's in stock, get a fricking job and buy all the Hot Fries and 2 liter Orange drinks you want. We always hear politicians "lament" there are "no healthy food options" in poor neighborhoods. Well, that would solve this problem

As of now they just go buy 200 cans of corn with EBT, then go to the return line at the Walmart and return all the cans of corn and get the money back in cash
