The Sandlot for me.

But this is a great movie comparison even though they're completely different genres. Stand By Me is a classic, but if you were born in the early/mid 80's and played even a little bit of baseball -- The Sandlot grew on you.

I see them as two sides of the same coin. The SBM kids all have issues at home and the movie has a somewhat dark tone. We don't know anything about the home life of any of The Sandlot kids except Smalls but they all seem pretty happy. SBM is basically The Sandlot for kids from the other side of the tracks.
