He's still engaging the base and talking to normal americans and making sure they are still fired up by the time reelection comes around. Call it up running up the score if you will.
Compare that with normal presidents who ignore their voters for 2-3 years until the next election comes around.
He should be commended for a sound political strategy like this.
I get this, but I think this is the secondary goal. The first goal is to keep him sane and going.
I honestly don't think Trump will run for a second term on his own free will if he isn't impeached before then. All indications show he hates the job, and I don't blame him.

Keeping that base fired up and squarely in Trump's corner is what will enable the judiciary to be stocked with Constitutional conservatives.

All the more reason why these rallies are necessary. GOP success depends on keeping Donald Trump grounded on this Earth. It's not preferable by any means but those are the measures we have to take to keep the President going.

His ego will never allow him to be a repeat of LBJ, Carter and Bush 41. He wants the prestige of a two term President like Reagan, Bush and Obama.
