I've always hated lists that are scared to list stuff because it's too mainstream. People hate them, but you can't leave off The Sickness from Disturbed or Hybrid Theory.
Rolling Stone isn't exactly known for being metal elitists or trying to appeal to that crowd. I think Hybrid Theory has a place on this list, not sure why they wouldn't include it.

Seriously, not a single Devin Townsend or Strapping Young Lad album.

Listening to "City" tonight. One of Devin's best.

Laughable.
No Exhorder - Slaughter at the Vatican
No Down - Nola
No Acid Bath - Kite String/Paegan
No Sleep - Holy Mountain
No Melvins - Houdini
And Beneath the Remains > Chaos AD, but I would have included them both.
Not to mention the shite that they have listed as metal that barely passes for hard rock.

08. Megadeth – “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?”
This album has never begun to get old. Reign In Blood was cool and insane, but the technical proficiency of this one was so far ahead of everything else at the time. I can remember just being so dumbfounded all I could do was laugh at how insane something like the guitar break in Bad Omen was. I like the original Randy Burns mixes better than Daves on the remaster.
Megadeth has just as good if not slightly better a catalog of music as Metallica.
Other than Sabbath at #1, the rest of the top ten could fit anywhere in that order. They're all undisputed masterpieces. Pantera needs to get in there in too. I'd take them over Priest.
After that, there's a lot of bullshite on that list. Typical subjective Rolling Stone crap.

I could not agree more. Also, any list of top 100 metal albums that includes an Evanesence album is null & void....
