What a terrible coach for throwing his player under the bus like that.

Bertman was a master at the psychological aspect of baseball
If he saw that you didn't respond well to harsher criticism, he'd find a different way to motivate you.
That's the biggest difference. Some guys respond better to tough couching and some don't. A coach's job is to figure it out

Wow could you imagine if a coach told a player that today and it leaked. He would never coach again in today's world.
