At the age of 41 i have fell in love with the Dead. It's due to the release of the Cornell show on spotify. My wife has been out of town for the last 4 days and i have listened to 1 dead show a night on Archive.org since she has been gone.
Any suggestions and links for shows i should check out would be greatly appreciated. 3 years of JRAD shows with my buddy had a lot to do with this also.

quote:The Record Store Day release of 7.29.66 is great. The very early years so they sound more like a garage rock band, but it is a great show and the sound quality is phenomenal.

I know this is a Grateful Dead thread, but search for some JGB streams. Especially 1980.
12.6.77
3.18.78
2.12.80
2.28.80
3.1.80
3.8.80
7.28.84
10.31.92
Also David & The Dorks 12.17.70. David Crosby played a couple shows with Jerry, Lesh, Weir, & Mickey. The Cowboy Movie from that show is one of my all-time favorite bluesy Jerr tracks.

I like popping on a New Riders record every now & then, but if I had to rank them personally:
JGB
Grateful Dead
Legion of Mary (or any Jerr & Merl)
Grateful Dawg
New Riders of the Purple Sage
Old & In The Way
All of the other members' spinoffs are pretty meh.

Be sure and watch the amazon documentary that just came out.
All the Dick's Picks deserve a listen and they are all on Spotify. Not sure the number (I think 8) is probably my all time favorite, 5/8/70. great acoustic set followed by an insane 2nd set and encore.

It's also worth watching the 6 episode documentary "Long Strange Trip" that was just released on Amazon streaming. I watched them all back to back on a long flight and was happy to have them loaded.
7.8.78 (mentioned by Captain Panic) is my go to.
