Not to say we are, or have been, perfect...

But with the exception of a few Spanish territories in the late 1800s, for the last 160+ years, we have not taken any territory or maintained any colonies after winning a war.

Instead, for good or not, we have thrown blood and treasure into the grind of history for the greater good. To save people from tyranny and oppression, asking nothing in return.

While this country may someday fail, I pray that history will remember us.

You only need to look at how we talk about ourselves to realize it's the truth.

Most of the world wishes they had the freedom to question much less criticize their government. It's to the point where living is so easy we have to channel our frustration towards if dudes can piss in womens' public restrooms

The shite countries are all sunshine and rainbows. North Koreans think it's a blessing that they weren't born in America

-Living below the poverty line means you likely own a home, car, air condition, and 2 TVs.
-We hate that we have such easy access to food bc it makes us overweight
-Social injustice is considered people suggesting we require an ID to vote for the leader of our choice

^ the struggle is real

The vast majority of the world doesn't have the luxury of our "problems"

Our country won't fail. As long as we have the first and second amendment, we will be just fine.

I can 100% assure you that it will at some point. Hopefully none of us are around for it, but eventually the USA will fall. It's what societies do and will continue to do.

I am grateful and thankful to have been born in this great country to a great father and mother.

God Bless America.

I am well aware of that.

Vietnam?
Who were the oppressors?

Iran in 1953?
Who were we to boot out the Shah?

We meddle in bullshite like Iraq not for the greater good of humanity, but for the good of those who control the pursestrings of our foreign policy.

If we truly were for freedom and liberation, then we sure as shite would not have "sold" $3 billion to the most oppressive country on this fricking planet (and I don't count North Korea) last month.

The problem is that we have too many freedoms. Government by the people is not sustainable when the majority of people are idiots who thrive on milking the system. We're far too close to having the inmates running the asylum.

ETA: Though 8 years of Trump may give us a fighting chance of righting the ship.

I agree. Everyday I wake up wondering what other laws and regulations I should be subjected to.

People are naturally rebellious. We don't have enough causes for the rebels here so we are making new ones. It's not a process that stops

Where things are bad people fight for food and shelter

Where things are ok people fight for consistent utilities, democracy, or religious freedom.

Where things are incredible people fight for toilet equality by threatening the privilege to host championship games for 100 million dollar athletes

People will always fight, just look for their cause to determine their quality of life

have you actually been anywhere else?

I can think of a few countries I might prefer living in at the moment.

A patriotic post like this gets 4 downvotes from our America-hating dimocratixes.

Not dogging you but curious where you have in mind?

IMO unless you are talking about a Denmark or a New Zealand where you have a homogenous population the size of Houston it doesn't get much easier than here. Whether you are talking about taxation, equality legislation, national security, working conditions, or job opportunity

Those are the tangible things. If you are talking about perception such as discrimination (personally not legally) or "is my president an a-hole," well that's a lot simpler when your country is over 90% homogenous or your media is limited in its ability to criticize.
People say the US is too white at < 70%, and there is nothing on the books that prevents any demographic from any achievement, in fact lower representations in fields are given advantages.
