I just noticed that this 4* athlete from Destrehan did't even have LSU listed as a school of interest. He was recognized as having one of the best game performances by Rivals, along with Randall Mackey and Ryan Baker. Anyone familiar with this kid? thanks.

He's like 5'8 and come on strong at the end of the season.

Apparently he has good but not great speed and quicks, but not enough to make up for his diminutive stature to warrant and LSU offer.

trindon = 5'5"

damaris is a superstar. he is probably a better all around football player than trindon, but it all matters on where you end up and how you fit in the system. obviously, the coaches did not see a real need for damaris. i do not have a problem with that.

he's a great player.

but i don't think his athleticism makes up for his lack of measurables.

I do, he's not as fast as TH (who is), but he's still very fast, and has better moves and hands. He has the skills to play in the SEC and be dangerous w/ the ball. Very similar to how Prothro was.

The Destrehan coach called him the most electric player he'd ever coached. This is on the team with Tim Molton and Jordan Jefferson, along with Jerico Nelson.

Anyways, most of the big time programs stayed away because of his size. Some of the offers he does have maybe are for playing CB.

Before I saw destrehan play, I knew we had committments from the wr and the qb, but the rb was looked like the best player on the field. I only saw him play one time and thought he was the one the best players I had ever seen on the high school level. He did have a great game that day, his moves or unbelievable. He was definitely the key to destrehan winning the 5a state championship and that is saying a lot when you have Jordan Jefferson.

LSU better be careful not offering a guy a scholarship because he is 5' 8". Barry Sanders was 5'8". LINK
See how he plays his senior year.

doesn't play WR.

You don't have to look too hard to see the type of WRs we are recruiting.

most of trindon's contributions come in motion out of a wide receiver slot.....the same play damaris runs for destrehan. he could be a running back in college with an emphasis on catching the ball out of the backfield. he would shake every lb in the nation. who cares what they are listed as? we don't use trindon like a traditional rb and we wouldn't use damaris like a traditional receiver either. regardless, we are missing out on some major talent just in one area of the state by not offering at least one of the following: laron byrd, jerico nelson, or damaris johnson.

We can't get everyone especially if we sign the guys for next year we realllllly want at RB. Schools like latech need to do well next year getting the second level talent in LA. With the level being so elevated for next year those guys could really produce some winning teams at other instate schools.

Excellent bump! I remember how everyone here was convinced that this guy would not make an impact at the college level. Now where are the experts?
