His lawyer didn't qualify it like you have. He flat out said the NYT quoted the memo in their May 11th article. That did not happen. They discussed the presence of the memo and what someone told them it contained.
It's possible that someone was Comey or his lawyer friend, but not definitive.

Trump and Comey have a private dinner.
Comey claims he started keeping memos about his Trump interactions.
NYT prints an article detailing what was discussed during that private dinner on 5/11.
Trump tweets the following day.
Am I missing something?

You guys got successfully trolled by Trump's lawyer. It is so obvious the May 11 story came from a Comey memo. It's minimally relevant whether it ditectly quotes the memo or not if the question is the source of the leak.
