Thursday is my 5 year wedding anniversary with my husband. He was going to be out of town in Lafayette working, but will now be in Baton Rouge. We live in Denham so we're familiar with the area. I'm looking for recommendations on nice restaurants perfect for an intimate night where we won't spend $200. Thank you!

Edited to add that we don't want to go to New Orleans since we both have work the next morning. But something heading to Hammond/Lafayette would be okay too!

DiGuilio Brothers on Perkins Road, cozy, romantic Italian restaurant. Very affordably priced.

Thank you! Haven't killed him yet, so I think we're doing pretty well! ;)

Only 5 years? Give us an update in 25-35 more.
You'll have thought of lots of ways to kill him..

Honestly, one of the best suggestions for what OP is looking for.

Food wise, you could throw Kalurah Street Grill or Beausoleil into the mix.. but they just don't have that intimate neighborhood Italian joint type of atmosphere that DiGiulio's has.

La Lady, agree except for Beusoleil. First couple of years was my go to spot, but the last year and a half I've had awful service and food. What happened to that place?

Not sure, but I've been hearing some negative reviews of Beausolei lately.

Love the food and atmosphere at Kalurah, but everyone I know who's been has had the same rude server. It just sounds like he's reciting from a script and wants to get you out of there as fast as possible. My mom told him about her lethal allergy to tomatoes while trying to confirm that one dish didn't have any. He just rolled his eyes and walked off. On another visit, he refused to tell me what the dessert specials were while my husband was in the bathroom because he didn't want to repeat himself. I said I'd be picking out the dessert anyhow but he was emphatic. There ended up only being three choices. Big effort.

I love everything else about the place. I'm? not the type to take to Yelp but I hope that dude is gone soon.

I went to culinary school with the owner of Beausoleil and we've eaten there before. I've been hearing negative stuff lately :( We ultimately decided on The Little Village since we've never been before and my coworkers have been raving about their bread and the quality of food. I'm currently pregnant with baby #2 so no wines or anything for me, but bring on the yummy food! Reservations are set for 7:30 this evening! Thanks for all your suggestions! I'll write these down for future date nights!
