is the line drawn at Confederate slaveholders, and American slaveholders are acceptable?

No, this line isn't drawn Bc there's a group trying to remove a Sam Houston statue in the city of Houston right now. After that I have to assume they'll want to rename the city.

The point of removing the statues wasn't because the men were slaveholders. How do people not understand this?

It is willful ignorance in the age of proliferating towards victimhood status. Every demographic imaginable wants others to see them as put upon, even the demographic who is usually first in line to make fun of "victims."

How does the saying go ...

In 1492 Columbus turned the ocean red with the blood of innocent natives.

It is now and forever more known as The Swamp.

This is the most naive statement in the thread.

There is NEVER a stopping point with this type of shite. I would be for blowing up fricking Mount Rushmore if the King of the Progs (whoever that is) said "that will be the end."

But there is never an end.

Hell I would pay reparations, gladly, but that would be like giving a homeless man a dollar.

Factually incorrect. There is a stopping point, and that point is where our votes and the Constitution say so. It isn't necessarily bad if it doesn't all go your way.

IF....

If New Orleans stops at 4 statues, then that proves this was simply a political stunt and not a substantive effort to rid the city of its confederate symbolism.

Well I certainly do find Confederate slaveholders more reprehensible from an American perspective. Patriot slaveholder>traitor slaveholder

26 downvotes = 26 fricking retards. I assume the DVs are for using "traitor." Even still, totally stupid because people know the point. George fricking Washington and confederate heroes are not on equal footing.

It just doesn't matter. It's what the city and its people want.

This all reminds me of this: Taliban blowing up Buddhas

Same rationale: it make me feel bad!

Same result: destruction of history.

What's the difference? Nothing.

A culture of repression moves into an area and because a historical landmark erected by those formerly in the majority, and now in the minority, makes them feel bad or they disagree with it, they destroy it.

Looks like Amerigo Vespucci, the credited namesake of America, was a slave owner and involved in the slave trade.

Adios, America.

Will African Americans rename themselves "African Africans" or whatnot?
